Luke’s POV
I woke up the next morning and went out to the boys who were having breakfast in the kitchen. We were supposed to be going to the beach this afternoon, but first I was going to go to the hospital and check up on Lexi and how our baby is doing. It is the fucking weirdest thing, knowing that in about 7 months, we will be parents and have a little baby. I know Lexi will be strong enough to pull through this. “Hey, I’m going to go and see Lexi at the hospital, anyone want to come?” I asked the boys. Jai shot up straight away and said “Yep.” “Alright, mum wants to come to, so get ready, we are meeting her downstairs in about 20 minutes.” I told him.
We arrived at the hospital and got the lift up to the 5th floor. Dr Hampton made his way over to us and led us to Lexi’s room. I played with her hair and held her hand as he spoke. “Well, Lexi is heading in the right direction, her organs are getting stronger which is a very good sign. The baby is doing very well, although Lexi isn’t very far along, you can’t see much, but would you like us to do an ultrasound?” he asked me. “Yes please” I gulped as the doctor went to get the midwife. She walked in the room and introduced herself as I got up and shook her hand. She set up the portable machine and lifted up Lexi’s gown, placing another gown over her area and legs. She squirted some gel-like substance on Lexi’s stomach and began rubbing the machine around on her stomach. “I’m just looking for the heart beat, because the baby is so small, it is sometimes hard to find so don’t worry.” The midwife told me. Mum came over to me and squeezed my hand, kissing me on the forehead as Jai stood next to me, flashing me a small grin. All of a sudden I heard a heartbeat and a small figure appeared on the screen. “So this is the uterus.” The lady said pointing to the screen, “And this..” she continued, “Is your baby” she told me, as my eyes began to fill with tears as they streamed down my face. Mum began to cry as she cradled me in her arms and Jai joined in too, tears streaming down his face. “Congratulations baby, I love you” mum told me as she kissed me cheek. “Congrats bro, so happy for you” Jai said as he leant down and hugged me.
After we saw the ultra-sound, Jai was led by the doctor to go and see Sasha. I continued caressing Lexi’s face in my hands and amiring her beauty until I heard commotion coming from down the hall. I got up and ran down to where Jai was with Sasha… she was awake.
She had woken up, freaking out, not knowing what’s going on and the doctors were trying to calm her down and stuck a needle in her arm. Meanwhile Jai was crying in the corner, scared and shocked. I walked over to him and comforted him as we made our way over to the bedside and sat down next to Sasha. She was still awake, but very droopy. The doctor made his way in, “So, Jai… Sasha is doing much better and her organs are back to normal, she has made an extremely fast recovery. We just need to keep her in here for a few more days to monitor her closely incase any thing goes wrong, but she should be right to go home on Friday, in 5 days.” He told Jai, as a smile spread across Jai’s face.
“Luke” the doctor began “If you come back on Friday, we are going to attempt to bring Alexis out of the coma and see how her body is going to deal with it, as her organs are looking much better. Is that alright with you? You will just need to sign some forms.” He told me. “Um yeah of course, just one thing” I began… “Will it effect the baby?” I asked the doctor. “Not if everything goes alright. But there is possibility..” he told me, as I felt unsure, but for Lexi, I would do anything to get her back to reality again, so I agreed and signed the forms.

It was Friday and today, Sasha was able to go home, as she was doing much better. Lexi was also being woken from her coma today, I was extremely nervous, but anxious that Lexi might come back to reality in a few hours. Jai, mum and I made our way to the hospital and up to level 5. Sasha was getting packed up and she had a man with her in the room, that wasn’t a doctor. We walked in there as Sasha turned to us and said “Hey guys, this is my dad, he flew in from Brisbane this morning.”. The man turned around “Hey guys, we have to go, come on Sasha” he said rudely and led Sasha out, Jai didn’t even get a chance to talk to her.
Doctor Hampton came up to us and led us into Lexi’s room. He asked us if we were ready, and as I agreed, he placed the needle in her arm. I made my way over to her bedside and waited impatiently for her to awake. I knew she was going to be in a lot of pain, so I was preparing myself. Her eyelids began moving and her fingers moved slightly as her eyes opened wide. The doctor went to the bed and said “Hello Alexis, my name is Dr Hampton, you are currently in the hospital. You were in a car crash and you had some pretty severe injuries. I know you will be in a lot of pain, but we are trying our best to keep you comfortable. Can you say something for me?” the doctor asked as Lexi began to sit up, clenching her stomach with a pained look on her face. “Are you okay babe?”I asked her as she turned around to me and said “I’m sorry… who are you?” with an embarrassed look on her face. My stomach dropped and before I broke down, I ran out.
