Ch.2

Necessary Sacrifices

Karasu's P.O.V.

I stood in front of my mirror and eyed my long platinum white hair sighing. It had been the only thing that I truly admired about myself over the years. I had grown it out ever since I left the family estate because I didn't have to pretend to be something I'm not anymore. I mean don't get me wrong, I was a tomboy through and through, but I still enjoyed the girly feeling I got when I let it out of my hood. It was like a curtain that told the White Crow to hide while the real Karasu got to come out and play, which was extremely rare. Now I was forced to do the unthinkable, and while I had to admit Gaara's plan was the smartest one, it didn't make this any easier. A trophy of my succeeding in surviving until now was going to have to go. After all, Shinobi Elite High School was an all boy school. No girls allowed. I gripped the edge of a kunai blade and began to cut. The strands fell sadly on the tiles and counter around me and I used the blade to razor in spikes that looked natural. Maybe I should've been a hairstylist? When I finished I grit my teeth at the person I saw staring back at me through the mirror. An older version of the kid I used to be during the battle with father. The Fake Karasu Shiro Kazuki. With a slight snarl I drew my fist back and punched the mirror, it shattered in a spider web pattern but it didn't faze me as I calmed down walking out of the bathroom swiftly and went to bed. It was four O'clock in the morning and I had School starting at seven thirty.

I woke up at exactly six fifty out of complete habit. I normally didn't get much sleep anyways so the less than three-ish hours I got were fine with me as I could catch up on sleep later. I tightened the bindings on my chest before I got dressed and flipped my new short hair around getting it to effectively stand a little in spikes. My arms were wrapped neatly with the white bandage tape with a black long sleeve hoodie covering them simply. I did a little makeup which I dreaded greatly but it was necessary to contour my jaw line and cheek bones because I realized that I had a more feminine looking face after three years. It was seven ten when I walked out the front door and hopped on Nightcrawler. Of course I wasn't as stupid as to park it anywhere within the schools parking lot. I pulled it into a concealed ally a few buildings away and tossed its tarp over it before continuing the walk to the school. If Gaara had done what I had paid him to do then I should just be able to walk up to the front desk declaring I'm a new transfer. Though I thought of something as I walked through the front doors... I didn't tell Gaara the name I wanted... Granted I didn't have one picked out anyways, I just prayed he was able to come up with one decent. I strolled to the front desk where a man in his mid-twenties with navy black spiky hair and a large bandage across his nose glanced at me curiously.

"Can I help you?" His tone was almost bored as he twirled a pencil in his fingers. I glanced at the name tag on the desk and prepared to let the Fake out. 'Kotetsu Hagane huh?' I thought briefly before taking a step back and bowing respectfully with a very small smile.

"Pleased to meet you Hanage-San. I recently transferred here, I would like my class schedules please." He seemed a little shocked at my manners and nodded searching for the files.

"Really... I hadn't heard about a new student coming in today..." He paused slightly and I prayed the files were there. They were in fact as he made an audible "ah..." before printing off the paper. "You must be... Menma Yukine..." I saw the corner of his lips twitch into a teasing smirk and I almost blew my cover in the first few seconds of being there with a look of 'you have got to be kidding me' that I quickly hid. I nodded accepting my fate while cursing out the red haired emo fuck that gave me that name. Seriously, Menma was a condiment you put in ramen that didn't even taste that good. Yukine was a pretty name, but going into a male school with a surname meaning 'Sound of Snow' was just asking for trouble... Gaara was going to pay dearly for putting me through the humiliation, but right now I just had to shrug it off like it was my real name. He handed me the paper and I gave a curt thank you and headed to my first class. I could faintly hear him chuckle before muttering a 'Good luck kid, your gonna need it' under his breath.
