[9-year-old Sho Takahashi POV]
I twiddled my thumbs at the corner of the classroom, bored out of my mind. We're stuck inside learning about the history of Konoha. Ugh, school's a waste of time, why can't I just be a Genin now?
I looked out the window and noticed a snoozing Kaname Hatake and an, as usual, detached Sasuke Uchiha. Misaki Amaya, a friend of the two, was paying attention diligently.
Those three annoy the hell out of me. They always parade around like they're better than everybody. What, so they can throw kunai with top-notch precision, who cares? They can execute the Transformation Jitsu perfectly, but who can't these days?
Well.. I can't do either, but that doesn't give them the right to act like they own the place!
"Alright, class is over! We'll continue this lesson tomorrow!" said Iruka-sensei.
That's good, I was just about ready to shoot myself out of boredom.
Kaname and Sasuke strutted out of the classroom with Misaki following close behind. I slipped out of my seat and trailed behind them.
"Let's go train today, guys." I heard Kaname say to Misaki and Sasuke.
"Sounds good." Misaki replied. Sasuke nodded.
Kaname suddenly turned around, noticing my presence. "Is something the matter?"
Misaki and Sasuke also turned to face me. Their eyes feel so threatening, seriously.
"Uh, nothing's wrong." I replied. I hoped I sounded nonchalant.
Kaname blinked. "Okay."
"So I-I heard you guys were going out to train."
"Yeah, we were."
"I see."
Cue awkward silence.
"Did you want to train with us or.. or something?"
"Huh? Oh, right." C'mon, Sho, focus on the nonchalant tone of voice. "Yeah, I was hoping maybe you guys could help me out with the Substitution Jitsu."
"Do we look like teachers to you?" Sasuke said coldly. See what I mean when I say they parade around like they're better than everybody?
"Let's go guys." Sasuke shoved his hands in his pockets and walked away.
Kaname grinned apologetically. "Well, maybe next time kid. See you."
Kid? What do I look like to him? We're the same age, equals! He doesn't even know the stuff I've been through.
Y'know what, who needs them anyway, those arrogant pricks. I do just fine training on my own.
"Hey Kaname, Sasuke!" A voice called out. Oh boy..
Of course, it belonged to the yellow-haired kid, Naruto Uzumaki. He's one of the only other kids in the class that understand how annoyingly conceited those three are. But he's an idiot. I try to at the least lay low when it comes to the Conceited Trio, but he challenges them as if he was equal in talent. It's actually the exact opposite. He's a total loser. Even I can produce a better Substitution Jitsu than he can. He's easily the worst student in our class.
"Guys! Let's practice throwing kunai, I've been working on it and I bet I'm better than you two now! Believe it!"
Kaname, Sasuke, and Misaki continued walking and talking amongst themselves, acting as if Naruto didn't exist. I'd say that's cruel, but since it's Naruto I'd probably act the same way if I were them.
"Guys!" Naruto ran after them, "Guys.. Damn!"
What a miserable mess.
I guess I'd better get training, otherwise I'll fall behind a become a dunce like Naruto.
