Today, we were to be assigned to a three-man squad with a Jounin as a squad leader. Me plus two other people who passed. Any random Jounin.
I've already assumed that it would be Sasuke, Misaki, and I in one team. It just has to be that. We work so well together, it'd be such a waste of potential.
I walked into the classroom with Misaki, already spotting a crowd of girls fighting to sit next to Sasuke. How bothersome.
"These seats are already taken, sorry." He says, his best attempt at wavering them off. I plop to the seat next to him, Misaki next to me. I realized Naruto Uzumaki sitting just in front of us. I thought he didn't graduate? But he was wearing a forehead protector. I guess they've changed their minds.
Naruto got a bit fed up with Sasuke, planting himself infront of Sasuke and attempting to intimidate him. Sasuke doesn't get intimidated by, well, anything. Especially Naruto.
Their stare had continued for a good ten seconds when a kid behind Naruto leaned back, accidently pushing Naruto into Sasuke and closing the space between them. They... kissed.
Oh my gosh. I instantly tilted my head back and laughed out loud, I will never ever ever let Sasuke hear the end of this!
"I-I'll kill you!" Sasuke said, rapidly wiping his lips across his sleeve.
The girls coldly glared at Naruto.
"It was an accident! An accident!" He pleaded. But before anything could happen, Iruka-sensei walked into the classroom and intervened.
"Hello guys! Again, congratulations on graduating from the Academy. Now, you will be assigned to your squad and squad leader."
Iruka-sensei pulled out a list from his pocket and cleared his throat.
"Starting off, Team 1..."
Blah, blah, blah.
"Team 2.."
Blah, blah, blah.
"For Team 3 we have.."
Blah, blah, blah.
"Team 4 will be Kaname Hatake.."
I gulped. Here we go.
"Misaki Amaya.."
This is perfect. I knew it. I knew it'd be the three of us in one team.
I looked at Sasuke and he smirked back. We know they would call his name next.
"And.."
Sasuke Uchiha.
"Sho Takahashi."
What... wait, what?! WHAT?! Huh?! The confusion on my face was pasted right across Sasuke's face as well.
".. What?" Sasuke said to me. I shrugged.
Now I'm really disappointed. I don't get to go through this with my best friend. And on top of that, Sho Takahashi isn't that great a Shinobi at all. So, so disappointed.
Iruka-sensei proceeded to call Teams 5 and 6. Still haven't heard Sasuke's name yet.
"Team 7 will consist of Naruto Uzumaki.."
Welp. I feel bad for whoever will be on his team.
"Sakura Haruno.."
The annoying girl that pesters Sasuke and I the most out of all the girls. If Sasuke ends up in a team with her and Naruto, that'll just be pure bad luck.
"And Sasuke Uchiha."
HAHA! Poor guy. Sasuke didn't show it, but he was probably mourning for himself. Naruto is practically useless. Sakura's nothing but brains. Sasuke will have to put those two on his back.
"For Team 8, we have Kiba Inuzuka, Hinata Hyuuga, and Shino Aburame."
A Hyuuga and an Aburame? Not a bad team.
Team 9 was then called, most of which were people I didn't really interact with much.
"Team 10 will be Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, and Chouji Akimichi."
The lazy genius, the top student, and the fatass. Kakashi had told me about the famous Ino-Shika-Cho combo, I look forward to seeing these three work together.
"And that's all the teams! You will be meeting with your Jounin squad leader later today, so don't be late!"
Now it's lunch break. Iruka-sensei said we should eat with our teams in order to get to know each other, and I did so reluctantly. Misaki, Sho, and I sat under a shady tree and pulled out our lunches. Sho had a messily prepared sandwich, Misaki a bento box with the food inside neatly organized. I brought three rice balls.
After we finished there was an awkward atmosphere. I've never really talked to Sho Takahashi before, and Misaki was always shy in front of people we didn't know so she wouldn't be doing much talking either.
"So.. I guess we're a team then.." said Sho, slowly building up a conversation.
"Yeah, I guess."
"Yeah.. yeah."
Could it get any more awkward?
I scratched my head and yawned. "So, do you know any ninjutsu?"
"No. Not really."
"Any good at taijutsu?"
"I could do with some practice."
".. Genjutsu?"
"None at all."
Well. He's a shit teammate.
"I see.."
It's awkward again. "Does Misaki know any jutsus?"
"She does, yeah."
"Oh, that's cool."
"It is."
I just wanna.. Leave.
"I'll be going to the bathroom. See you two back in the Academy, I suppose."
"Okay. See you."
And now he's off, meaning Misaki would start talking again.
"So, do you like him?" I asked. I guess as a person he was okay but he didn't know anything as a Shinobi.
"He's okay. He seems nice." She said simply. Both are right. For as long as I've known Sho he's never really been much of a bother like Naruto or the annoying fangirls.
I'll be with this guy for awhile, so we might as well learn to be friends.
