I woke up the next morning to my dad telling Klaudia and I to get ready and that we had big plans for the day. I checked Facebook to see if Brad had liked any of my pictures, and he did! This put a huge smile on my face and I decided to poke him on Facebook. I waited for a second to see if he'd respond to my poke right away, but he didn't, so I got in the shower.
When I got out, I checked my phone, and Brad had messaged me! I quickly got dressed and ran around the house screaming. Without even realizing that Melissa was standing right there, she already knew what happened.
"Alright, I know Brad messaged you, but go brush your hair and teeth and give him your phone number. You can't suck up all of your data this month. Remember what happened last time?" Melissa asked.
"Yeah, I remember. That was not a good time," I said.
I went and brushed my hair and teeth as I was messaging Brad. It was hard to understand his text at first, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Melissa was standing in the doorway as I was finishing brushing my teeth.
"Just give the boy your dang number and let's go," she said in a laughing manner.
I told Brad that I wasn't going to have WiFi and that he needed to text me. I sent him my number and almost instantly he texted me. I wasn't even out of the door when he sent me a second text.
"He must be bored," I thought to myself.
Brad then began to ask me many questions about myself. He asked what my favorite TV show was, if I was in any sports, and what I look for in a guy. At the time, I was only fourteen and didn't really know what I was looking for in a guy. I told him that my favorite show was The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, which he didn't like so much since he said all they do on the show is play mind games, which I could see. I told him I was already guaranteed a spot on my high school's varsity cheerleading squad. He strongly believed that cheerleading wasn't a sport, but I had a pretty great argument that it was. I also told him that I didn't know what I looked for in a guy since I was only fourteen.
He then told me a few things about himself. He said he didn't watch TV much because he was busy with wrestling. He was fifteen and was on the varsity wrestling team for his high school. He also said that was he looked for in a girl was someone who was trustworthy, and he was attracted to girls with blonde hair and big, beautiful blue eyes.
"That sounds a lot like me," I thought, "But he'd never date me."
Brad and I carried on our conversation for the rest of the day. The following day, Melissa came over while I was getting dressed. She tells me to go to the living room once I was ready for the day. I didn't think anything spectacular was going to happen, so I took my time getting ready. But once I walked out into the living room, I almost started crying.
Melissa had an adorable puppy laying in her lap.
"What kind of dog is this?" I asked while holding and petting the puppy.
"He is a miniature yorkie terrier," Melissa said.
"What's his name?" I asked.
"We haven't decided yet," she said.
"How about Aoki? Like the Brewers player, Norichika Aoki?" I asked.
"Maranda, that's a perfect name! It fits him so well. Nice thinking," she said.
We called Klaudia out the living room and she was very excited about the puppy as well as I. We played with him for a long time and Aoki loved it! He was so hyper and got very comfortable with us real quick.
I sent Brad a picture of the puppy and said, "Isn't he the cutest thing ever?"
"He's pretty cute, but not as cute as you," he said.
