The next morning I wake up with a smile that I just can't seem to shake. The sun shines lightly through my window as I stretch, a yawn escaping my lips as I do so. I get out of bed and change into skinny jeans, a white tank top, and a navy blue hoodie. I brush my hair, then decide to leave it down today. As for makeup I put on a little lip gloss but nothing more.
I hum quietly as I make the twins and Susan breakfast. "Will you shut up?!" Susan grumbles. 'Screw her. I can do whatever I like," I think to myself as I continue to hum. Once I served breakfast, I grab an apple and run out to my car.

"Why are you so smiley?" Piper asks, her eyebrows raised as she leans against the locker beside mine. I shrug. "Is it because of Percy?" She asks, smirking a somewhat evil smirk. "No!" I exclaim trying to hide my blush. Piper laughs. "So it is about him!" I feel my face burn. "Hey, where's Hazel?" I ask changing the subject and Piper's smile fades. "She's at the hospital with her mom," she replies grimly. "Oh," is all I can manage to say. Piper nods, and looks down at her shoes.Our silence is interrupted when I a girl whom I've never seen before approaches us. The girl has long curly brown hair, olive skin, and green eyes. She's wearing a jean jacket over a light purple dress. A simple, yet pretty look.
"Hi. Could you tell me where locker 273 is?" She asks politely. I nod. "Yeah, it's down that hall, second set of lockers on your right," I say. "Beside the Economics class," Piper adds, not looking up. "Thanks," the girl replies. Then adds "I'm Emily by the way." I shake her hand. "Annabeth, and this is Piper." She smiles and shakes Pipes' hand. "Well it was nice meeting you," she says before turning and following my directions. I turn to look at Piper, my eyebrows raised. "What was that all about?" I ask. She's shrugs and shakes her head. "A new student halfway into the year is a little odd...right?" I nod. "I wonder what her story is...."
I mumble quietly. Piper nods and stares intensely down the hall. I look where she's staring and see none other than Jason Grace leaning against a locker chatting with Emily. Piper's expression becomes a scowl as she starts to move forward. I grab her arm. "What are you doing?" She hisses at me as I pull her away. "I'm stopping you from making a mistake. Choose your fights wisely," I reply, thinking back to what Percy had told me. Pipers expression softens and I let go of her arm. From a distance we watch, as Jason and Emily talk. It looks like Emily's asking him a question then Jason responds by pointing down the hallway. They shake hands quickly, before heading separate ways. "See, everything's cool, she was just asking for more directions," I sooth. "But we just gave her directions!" Piper exclaims. I simply shrug. "Maybe we were to vague." Piper doesn't look convinced but she nods anyway. Just then the bell rings shrilly, indicating that classes have begun. "See you at lunch," Piper says as I start to walk away. "Dido!" I call, waving without turning around.~
There's only one thing to be said about Calculus. It's BORING.
I spent most of the class half listening to the teacher and half tapping my pencil against my desk. I got called on once, and went something like this;
Teacher: Ms. Chase?
Me: Pardon?
Teacher: I asked if you could give me the answer to the question on the board....
Me: *looks at the board*
Me: *gives correct answer*
Teacher: Thank you Ms. ChaseAnyway back to the present, by the time the bell rang I felt as though I was about to die of boredom. The minute the shrill ring hit my ears I grabbed my books and practically ran out of the classroom.
As I walked back to my locker I realized I would be passing Percy's soon. "Maybe if he's there you can talk to him," a completely irrational part of me thought. I tried to brush it aside, but the idea had found its way into my brain and soon I was jumping at the chance to speak with him. I picked up my pace, and practically jogged to Percy's locker.
When I got close, I saw Percy leaning against his locker and waved before slowing back to a walk. He smiled and waved back. Just then, someone called Percy's name from down the hall. He turned and I watched as a girl sprinted down the hall and straight into his arms. Their lips connected and I realized who the girl was. Jean jacket, purple dress, long brown curly hair.....it was Emily.
I felt as though I'd just been punched in the stomach. My chest ached. Oddly I didn't feel angry or sad. Just numb.A/N note: MUHAHAHAHAHA! Now the real plot begins!
