20. Say Hi To Stephanie For Me

I wake up lying on a bed covered in white sheets. There's an ice pack on my stomach and one behind my head as well. I turn my head, wincing a little, but managing to look at my surroundings. Quickly I discover that I'm in the nurse's office. How long have I been out for?
As I take in my surroundings I see something-er, I mean someone-that makes my heart speed up as if it's doing a gymnastics routine. Sitting in a chair in the corner, is none other than Percy Jackson. "Hey, looks who finally decided to wake up!" He says with a boyish smile that makes my heart skip a beat. "Hi," I reply, my voice coming out as a croak. "How long have I been out?" I ask, carefully. "About 3 hours," Percy confirms with a slightly worried expression. I gasp. "I'VE BEEN UNCONIOUS FOR 3 WHOLE HOURS?!" I practically yell. Percy bursts into a fit of laughter. At first I protest, saying its not nice for him to be laughing at me, but his laugh is so contagious that soon I'm laughing too. Finally, we calm down. "Sorry Coach made you carry me here..." I apologize, suddenly very serious. Percy raises his eyebrows at me. "Coach didn't make me do anything. I volunteered." He states. I stare at him gobsmacked. "Why?" Is all I can manage to say. "Two reasons, 1. You're my friend and 2. What would I do if my history partner died? How would I ever finish the project?" I laugh at his logic. "Well in that case, thank you," I say with a warm smile. "But I don't think I would've died, and that reminds me we need to work on that play more," I say, casually. Percy nods. "How does after school sound? Say about 5 o'clock?" He offers, with a half smile. "Sounds like a date," I reply. The minute the words leave my mouth I regret them. Percy's face turns bright red. "Ugh, I-I didn't mean it like that!" I exclaim, trying desperately to cover up my mistake. Percy nods, his blush fading a little. There's an awkward silence, which is interrupted by someone practically shouting "There you are Percy!" Both Percy and I turns our faces towards the door to see Emily standing in the door way. Her hair was slightly messy and her hair clip was crooked. I brush off these little details and turn my gaze to the floor. "I've been looking all over for you!" She exclaims. "Sorry," Percy mumbles. That's one thing I've noticed, whenever Emily and Percy are together he's never smiling. Never. I makes me wonder-no. I shake off the thought, no need to give myself false hope. Suddenly Percy tune snack to me. "I better go, rest okay?" He says with a small smile and I give a nod. "I'll see you later?" He says quickly before leaving the room. "Percy dear, could you just wait in the courtyard, I'll meet up with you in a sec," Emily says with a dazzling smile. Percy shrugs and walks to the courtyard. She watches him, waiting until she's sure that he's out of earshot. "So I hear that your after my boyfriend?" Emily says, her usually sweet smile completely gone now.
What? Who told her tha-oh. 'Stephanie,' I think as the puzzle pieces come together. Stephanie's plan must be to convince Emily that I'm after her boyfriend, therefore causing problems between Percy and Emily, leading up to them breaking up, leaving a heartbroken Percy hating me and an angry Emily also hating me, therefore giving me no chance with Percy and leaving him free for Stephanie to snatch up. Smart actually. She'll get her revenge and her guy. She'll use me to break up Percy and Stephanie. Oh that little-my thought is caught off by Emily clearing her throat. "Look, I don't know who told you that-" Lies. "But I have no intentions of stealing your boyfriend," I say putting my hand up in surrender. Emily opens her mouth to speak but I hold up my hand to silence her. "Let me guess, you're gonna tell me to stay the hell away from him, that he'd never love a nerd like me anyways. No need. I've been there and heard that," I say simply. Emily glares at me. After taking some Tylenol, my stomach and head have stopped spinning  like a merry-go-round and I can manage to stand. Done with Emily, Stephanie, and basically everyone else, I hop off the bed and walk towards the door. I pause, inside the door frame and turn around to say "oh and say hi to Stephanie for me."
Emily glares at me as I turn back around and walk down the hall.

I walk to my locker and grab my stuff. Now that school's over, the halls are empty. I let out a sigh and run a hand through my hair as I walk towards the parking lot. When I reach my car, I notice the little yellow  sticky note stuck to my front window. Curious, I pull it off. It reads;
5:00, see u then!

in small messy print. Nevertheless, I smile at the note. I climb into my car and turn on the radio as I pull out of the school parking lot. "Toothbrush" by DNCE is playing. I turn up the volume and sing the lyrics. I tap my fingers on the steering wheel as I sing, a small smile on my face.

By the time 5:00 rolls around, I'm ready and sitting on the couch.

After I picked up Bobby and Matthew from the sitters, I came home and took a shower. I replaced my smelly gym clothes with jean capris and a light grey t-shirt with 'California' written across it. I threw  my hair into an simple ponytail and flopped down on the couch to wait. I read a book, until the alarm I set goes off, indicating that it's almost 5.

"IM LEAVING!" I shout to Susan, whom arrived home about half an hour ago. I don't get a reply, (no surprise there), so I just slam the door and head out to my car.

When I arrive at Percy's apartment decide to take the stairs for a bit of exercise, considering I didn't get much during gym today.
When I reach Percy's door, I knock quickly, before taking a step back, not wanting to be right in the face of whoever opened the door. I hear the lock click and the door is opened so I'm face to face with Sally, Percy's mother. "Hello dear!" Sally exclaims wrapping my in a warm hug. I hug her back, thankful for the kind embrace. "Hello," I reply casually. Suddenly, the oddest thing happens. I hear Percy's voice from down the hall. At first it sounds like he's talking. Except the. I realize he's not talking....he's singing.

A/N: I'm sooooo sorry for the long wait, but here's your chapter! This chapters mostly just a filler so that's why it's a but boring...sorry again. Also, what do you think Percy could be singing???
