Chapter Two ~ The Walking Train

~Shanti~

"I am Thakur Aryan Singh Virani"

His words echoed in my ears and I stood frozen watching him disappear into the busy and noisy carnival.

I am Thakur Aryan Singh Virani. I am Thakur Aryan Singh Virani.

A small gasp escapes my lips and I slide down the tree trunk, sitting down. Frozen in shock I can't think straight. He must've of been kidding, right?. I slunk down knowing the answer. No he wasn't kidding. The Thakur in Heir to the Village and the Village Throne and you manage to anger him. Well done Shanti. Only you could of achieved that.

How was I to know? I've never seen any of the Thakur family apart from Thakur Aniket Singh Virani who was the current head of the village. I don't know anything about them, my Ma has always sheilded me from their eyes and it's a forbidden topic to talk about back home. Why though? Why won't Ma tell me about them?.

I need to compose myself, if Diya sees me like this, she'll automatically know somethings wrong. I will not drag her into this. I sit up quickly brushing dirt off my clothes, and plastering a smile on my face.

~Diya~

Oh god, look at the time, Shanti will be so worried about me. I race through the crowd, finally seeing Shanti. "SHANTI I'm back!" I call out, she turns to look at me. Smiling I make my way over to her. She looks up at me "Why'd ya take so long?" She asks. I sigh "I left my flower garland by the Ferris Wheel, took me ages to find it ~ Anyways shall we head home? It's getting dark?" I ponder looking up at the orangy pink sky.

"Yeah we probably should, besides this is the first time our parents have let us out to a Carnival withour escorting us, lets not push the boundaries. Remember Diya, sunset curfew!" Shanti chuckles rolling her eyes. I shake my head, and help her up, linking arms we walk home.
