Chapter five ~ 'Twisted Revenge'
~Diya~
"Where am I?" Shanti calls. I rush over the her side. I smile.
"Shan, don't scare me like that! Were in hospital, you passed out from exhaustion and dehydration. Why don't you ever look after yourself?" I reply, relieved that colour is returning to her face.
"Who brought me here?" Shanti sighs. I grin and say "Tera hero" (tera means your).
Shanti smiles at me weakly and asks "Rajan?". I nod and beckon Rajan who rushes towards her.
I wink at Shanti and leave the room to give them privacy. They are the cutest couple ever.
~Shanti~
I put on my gold painted leaf earrings as I line my eyes with kohl and brush on some gloss.
I pull out my new baby blue sari and fasten it with a diamanté belt saved in our family for generations.
This would be the last time I got to see Rajan before our wedding, which was in two weeks time. As in our village it was deemed bad to go out with your fiancée close to the wedding.
I stepped down the stairs to see Rajan standing there with a bunch of mustard flowers in his hands and I chuckled, we had first met in a mustard field.
He held out his hand and led me out of the house and we boarded a horse drawn carriage.
"You brought me here?" I said in awe looking at the waterfall. He had asked me out here, proposed to me here. it was special to us, we'd actually discovered it together aswell.
Rajan walked towards the waterfall and turned to me speaking;
"Shanti Kett, I can't wait to get rid of that surname so I can can call you mine. I just wanted to tell you I feel like the luckiest guy in the world to be marrying you, I can't quite believe my luck. Your smile, your laugh, your sparkling eyes and the way you frown when you get all mad has been driving me crazy. I love everything about you, even if I searched below the earth and above the stars I wouldn't find a single flaw in you. You have a beautiful personality, even prettier face but your way of thinking is so pure it shines like a beacon on you. Your my to-be-wife, your my everything, your a part of me, my other half. I wouldn't exist without you. I'm the yellow flower that grows in the mustard field and your my mustard seed. Without you I would never exist, never bloom into the person I am. I love you more than life itself. I am in love with you, it will be my utmost pleasure to call you my wife."
Tears of joy well up in my eyes and laughter bubbles inside me as he starts talking about mustard seeds. I run towards him and leap on Rajan knocking us both into the waterfall. I squeal and laugh as his arms wrap around my waist and I look up at him lovingly.
"I wanted you to be first to hear my vows that I will repeat to you now on the 4th of July." Rajan beams water swirling around us.
"I loved them Raj thank you, I love you more than my life. I want to save my vows for our special day. I can't believe your with me, my little mustard flower" I bubble.
