Echo was a small, rainy town nestled on the outskirts of Oregon. It didn't seem to have many inhabitants, and definitely wasn't bustling with visitors. The shops that lined the streets looked worn down and completely empty, and there were very few people wandering the streets.

Another ghost town, Sam thought as he gazed out the Impala's rain smattered window. Beside him, his brother Dean was happily humming Metallica while Sam sat in silence.

"What're ya thinkin about, Sammy?" Dean asked his younger brother, turning the radio down after his song ended.

"Nothing, why?" Sam answered.

The elder Winchester looked pointedly at the younger one, raising an eyebrow.

"Come on, Sammy I'm your brother. I'm not some civilian. You can talk to me."

"Nobody's accusing you of being a civilian," Sam laughed.

"Is it about the girl? Did you have that damn dream again?" Dean asked.

Sam went silent.

"Sam, she's probably fine now. You have to stop worrying about her. Okay?"

Sam shook his head. Dean didn't get it. The connection he'd felt with that girl, despite her comatose state, was something he hadn't experienced since Jess.

"So what exactly are we dealing with?" He asked, changing the subject before Dean could ask something else.

Dean turned down the tape on the radio. "The first Friday of every month, a female between the ages of sixteen to thirty disappears. She's either found dead, brutally beaten, or returns seemingly fine-"

"But nobody is ever really fine." Sam finished for his brother, "could it be a breed of vampire?"

"No, vampires travel in packs. As far as we know, every woman who's ever been returned prefers solitude. Families think it's because of the trauma but-"

"We know better." Sam murmured.

"Yeah, genius, can I finish my own sentences?" Dean asked jokingly.

"By all means, go for it." Sam replied.

Dean raised an eyebrow at his younger sibling before turning into the parking lot of a motel. "I'm thinking we start with the deceased. We need to research all the girls that have been found dead, try to find a connection between them."

"Right." Sam nodded, climbing out of the car and grabbing his bag.

"But first, we need coffee." Dean announced.

The brothers quickly unloaded the few belongings they had, save for the arsenal of weapons they kept in the back of the impala- those always traveled with them.

They circled the town for a bit, trying to decide where they should go- a place known as the Gypsy Café, which looked a little hippie-ish for Sam's taste, or a run-down restaurant called Harold's. After a few moments of speculation, they decided Gypsy was their best bet.

Upon entering, the brothers were greeted with a large room full of people and the strong smell of coffee and hazelnut creamer.

Sam gazed around, taking in the maroon painted walls and the artwork that adorned them. His eyes wandered over to one in particular, which portrayed a genie-like creature gazing down on some unsuspecting humans. A very familiar genie-like creature.

"Dean, look at this. It's-"

"A djinn." A voice beside him murmured. Sam turned around, coming face to face with an olive-skinned brunette. His hazel eyes met her chocolate ones, and his mouth dropped open.

It was her.
