After a few more hours of gaurding your prisoner, it was your break.
You had been sitting on the stairs in front of Loki's cell talking. He sat on the floor close to the stairs and you two talked about Asgard, about Midgard, and you talked about your family and he listened to your problems you had going on there intently.
He was a very good listener and even had some good advice to give you. No matter how hard you pushed, you couldn't get him to talk about his family.
He was on fairly bad terms with his brother and father is about all you could get.
He seemed extremely put off by the subject and after a while you gave up trying to make him talk and you two drifted back into easy conversation again.
Eventually you ended up sitting on the floor right in front of him when you talked about things in a quieter voice to make sure the gaurds wouldn't hear.
You told him some innocent secrets and he told you some of his. It was fun and you where having a really nice time when one of the gaurds from outside burst in and told you that you had a midday relif.
You thanked the guard and he left. Both you and Loki got to your feat and you said, "I'll be back in like an hour. See you then!" As though he wasn't even your prisoner.
You skipped along the halls in a fine mood. Marching into your little wing of the flying space craft, you said, "Hello!" Brightly to your mom and dad, who where sitting at the table talking to each other.
"You seem happy. How was the morning shift with Loki? Didn't give you trouble did he?" Your mom asked you curiously.
"Nope none at all. I had a good time." You said, smiling brightly. "A good time?" Clint asked you skeptically. You turned your beaming smile over to him and replied, "Yes! He's actually really cool."
This put a bewildered expression on both their faces. They glanced at each other, unsure of what to say next.
"C-cool?" Natasha stuttered. You nodded at her. Why was this so hard for them to understand? Loki was actually really nice.
"(Y/n), please remember that he is a prisoner and killed a bunch of people and blew up New York and tried to rule the human race. Okay?" Clint told you sturnly.
"Well when you put it that way...." you mumbled, turning your gaze to the floor. "People can change though." You muttered.
"Over night? After killing like 100 people? Not likely kido." Clint reasoned with you. "Well thats not gonna stop me from enjoying his company." You said defensively, trying to keep your temper in check.
"Whatever you say. Just remember, he's a bad guy. The prisoner. Not a friend." Natasha told you. You could feel yourself getting angry inside.
You wanted to yell at them and tell them how wrong they where, but you bit your lip and nodded, leaving the room. You went into your room and fell on your bed, screaming into your pillow and then realizing how right they where.
Why did you even want to stand up for Loki? He killed so many people. You sighed, laying your head down on your pillow and closed your eyes for what felt like a just a second, and then being shaken awake by your mom, telling you that your break was over and they wanted you back on gaurd duty.
You quickly jumped out of your bed and kissed her cheek before dashing over to grab a few thkngs off your shelf before running off to the prison.
Opon your arrival, Loki got up from his bench where he wasmsitting and came over to you. "What took so long?" He asked you, and you sensed a hint of resentment in his smooth voice.
"Im sorry, I didn't know I would be missed so terribly much." You say playfully. "What have you got there?" He asked, gesturing to what you wereholding.
You bit your lip and smiled mischievously. "Well, you said he loved reading...so, i brought some of my books back with me! They are almost definitely not what you read on Asgard, but hey? May as well give it a shot. Not like you have anything better to do anyways."
He nodded his head sideways in agreement, raising and dropping his eyebrows as he did so. You slipped the books in through the gape that was used for food and he grabbed them from you, scanning the covers with interest.
You had brought some for yourself aswell so you wouldn't get bored. Loki sat down and put his back up agenst the glass, and you put your back to his on the other side of the glass, picking out your favorite book and starting at the beginning.
You read like that in comfortable silence for a long long time when your stumach started to flutter at the thought of the man sitting to your back.
You started to not be able to focus on your book, your mind kept drifting back over to him. You bit your lip and looked up, just over the pages of your book
Why was this happening to you? You turned yourself around a little and saw one side of his face, his eyes where scanning the pages of the book, moving back and forth as he absorbed every word.
You could tell by the way he held the book so fondly that he had missed reading. He had been on Midgard for a little while now. You wondered vegly if he ever got home sick.
As you gazed at him, your stumach did back flips and let off fireworks.
This was a bit of a new feeling, and you didn't like it one bit. You couldn't focus. He somehow always found his way to the front of your mind.
Sighing, you turned back to start reading your book again.
Yoy definitely had feelings for him. This was gonna be a problem. Imagine if your mom and dad found out! They would freak out and you would get taken off gaurd duty.
Oh how you desperately wanted a real case. A case of your own to work.
To capture a prisoner of your own and have your chance to save the day.
You groaned on the inside. That was never going to happen anytime soon in your wildest dreams.
Well, at least you had Loki to hang out with for now. That was something at least.
After a while longer of reading, you two turned around again to face each other and talked about the book. It was different from what he read on Asgard and you had to keep explaining that none of it actually happened in real life.
You talked about books for a little while longer and asked about the books on Asgard and he explained before the subject switch over to your longing for a real case.
"They just let me do some spy work every now and then but other than that, i get gaurd duty." You explained, and he nodded.
"I want to be the one who brings in a prisoner for once. The one who saves the day and all that nonsense," you went on.
"Its not fair. They are wasting me. I wish i had a case of my own." You finished, sighing.
He nodded knowingly and said with a horrifying amount of mischief in his eyes, "You'll get your chance." The look on his face made you a little more than uneasy.
After a short bit, you where told it was your afternoon break. You got up and stretched and said 'goodbye for now's to Loki and left the room.
You went over to your place for dinner and then headed back for the prison. As you got there and opened the door, the sight your saw make your stumach drop.
You ran over to the screen, and sure enought....Loki was gone.
He found a way out.
