Chapter 36: Emotional Overload
“I love you.” I whispered softly as I stared into her beautiful eyes, and then all hell broke loose.

Lena’s P.O.V
I had not planned for things to work out the way they did, but for some reason while I was fighting with Will the urge to kiss him took over, and I couldn’t resist it. I felt as if a magnet was pulling us together and that no matter how hard I fought it I would lose. My surprise grew though when I realized that he didn’t push me away, which I thought would be his initial reaction. Instead he deepened the kiss. I wasn’t complaining though, and as the intensity of the kiss grew the less I was aware of my surroundings.
We broke apart and as I looked into Will’s eyes I could see that somehow the old Will was back. Then he whispered to me three words that I had wished to hear from him for a long time. “I love you.”

My happiness was short lived though, because just after he pronounced those words he let out a groan as he fell to his knees.
“Will? What’s wrong?” I asked panicked.
“It hurts.” Was all he managed to answer as he clutched his heart.
“Is it the heartbreakers? Are they using some kind of voodoo magic on you?” I asked confused as I knelt down beside him.
“I don’t think it’s them.” He gasped. “I think… I think I’m turning human.”
“Is it supposed to hurt like this?”
“I don’t,” he said as he let out a whimper, “think so.”
Since I had no experience whatsoever with ex-cupids slash heartbreakers becoming human, I was at a loss at what to do, and Will didn’t seem to know what was going on either. I decided to call the only person I knew who could help.
I hurriedly dug my phone out of my pockets so that I could call Kim. I was shaking slightly, because of how worried I was so it made the dialing harder then it should have been.
“Hello?” Kim answered immediately.
“Kim? I need your help!” I said desperately.
“What happened? Didn’t our plan work?”
“Get over here and you’ll see.” I just said as I hung up on her, and went back to Will. I kneeled down next to him, and looked at him worriedly. Will tried to give me a reassuring smile, but the pain distortioned it into a grimace.
“Kim is coming. She will know what to do.” I said with a big smile, trying to sound as positive as possible. I could see in Will’s eyes that he wasn’t convinced. Kim decided to appear just at that moment.
She took one look at Will on the floor, and me by his side, to know that something was going terribly wrong.
“What happened? Will! Are you okay?” She asked worriedly as she came closer.
“I… we… pain.” Will managed to say. Kim shot me a confused look.
“Long story short: We kissed, and then pain overtook Will.” I translated. “Will thinks it’s because he’s becoming human.”
Kim looked doubtfully at Will. “Where does it hurt exactly?” She asked him as she kneeled down on the other side of him.
Will clutched his heart in answer. I bit my lip debating internally on what I should do. Just seeing him this way was hurting me. I couldn’t imagine the hell he was going through.
