Vermillion locks whistled peacefully under the cool summer breeze. The distinct droning of the washing machine soothed her, and she hummed contentedly. Yeah. F*cking. Right.
This was Kagura. She was hot. It was hot. No other night has been this desert-like and humid. She was downright miserable. Her long locks of fiery vermillion was tightly tied up in a ponytail, (which was a rare occurrence that perturbed everyone.) and she exasperatedly sighed.
She irately propped herself on her elbows to probe at her also miserable foster father, Gintoki. He was urgently fanning himself with a paper fan, whilst trying to focus on his beloved sleep. She cleared her throat, "Gin-chan, I'm going on a winter vacation. I'll return in two days. Bye."
He hummed nonchalantly and peered at her, "Where do you think you'll find that money?"
She smiled at him warmly, "Pappi transferred money. I have 800 000 yen to spend."
The man's eyebrows furrowed, "wow, I never expected you to be rich!"
She ignored him and packed up what would satisfy her and bid Gintoki an enthusiastic 'goodbye' before sliding their door firmly shut. She ran to the airport with no time to spare, and hopped on to the nearest plane. To be completely honest with herself, she could've ran there but it would've taken two to three hours.
The aircraft landed safely, and Kagura excitedly jumped off to be greeted with soft fluffy snow and glimmering flurries. Her every breath was visible in the white hue, and she hauled her suitcase over her shoulder easily, surprising everyone around her.
She checked into her two-man cabin and jumped onto the couch with a satisfying 'fwump'. She growled as she remembered there's another person to take the vacant room in her cabin. It was to be expected, she needed everything else she's got for food. She shoved a stick of Sukonbu into her mouth and unceremoniously ate it, impatiently waiting (somewhat eagerly) for her roommate to arrive and ruin her infrequent getaway.
She jolted as the front door keyhole jingled, and watched as the wooden sliding door slid open slowly and torturously. She almost completely stabbed herself right then and there. It was a man. She knew this person. It was the annoyingly pretty face that she recognized first, then, of course the uniform which was layered with an unzipped coat, a hat that covered his visibly cold and red ears, and gloves that just by looking at them could tell that they're comfortable.
The man scoffed at the livid yato on the couch. "China... What are the chances that I'd see you here? The Gods must despise me today. Oh what 'luck'."
Her eyes lost it's happy glint and glimmer and only a pale blue was visible. She glared at him, "I need to get another cabin immediately," she bit her lip, "I don't want to be with you, Sadist."
"Don't be rational, now. I haven't seen you in a long time." He took off his coat and hung it on the coatrack, stuffing his gloves and hat in after. "You should be happy that you're in the same cabin as the beautiful Okita Sougo."
Kagura made a low growl, "first of all, I haven't seen you in a long time, and second of all, you're face is dog sh*t. Just like your personality. It goes both ways."
Sougo ignored her and walked into his room setting his bag down along with his sword and bazooka. He crept onto the large king sized bed and exhaled a restless breath. He was pretty happy. Normally, I would've hated this situation. But hey, I'm nineteen now, she's fifteen. Maybe she'll allow me to at least talk to her. He shut his eyes and proceeded to dream about murdering Hijikata.
Kagura was acting quite petulant when Sougo awoke. She would swiftly turn her head away if he was about to speak to her, and accelerated to her room whenever he wanted to give her food. It irked him. Why is she mad at me?
Sougo was determined. Stubbornly determined. He stomped over to her room and knocked loudly, appreciating the fact that he chose the cabin farthest from the others. "China.. Open the door.." No answer. He gritted his teeth, "China-"
"Go away, Sadist, please." Her voice was muffled, he assumed she was under the covers.
He opened the door silently, and crept up to her bed. He cooed, "China, if you don't tell me what's wrong I'll kiss you until you can't breathe anymore."
He smirked when the large lump of blanket flinched. She uncovered her head and stared at him sorrowfully. He slightly gaped at her adorable face and cleared his throat, "so? Tell me why you hate me more so than usual."
She held her breath, "You broke the promise. The promise we made when we were fighting."
He sighed and inched closer, "I didn't lose to anyone, China."
She was shivering, "You're wrong. I saw the papers... You have your sister's sickness, don't you? You lost to a disease... Now what am I to do?!" Tears rolled down her face.
He was wrung with guilt. So she noticed. She saw... She's worried about me.. He stroked her silky locks and whispered, "It's okay, China. I have the medication. I won't let myself die..." He looked at her, "I'm so sorry for not telling you. So stop crying, It's an ugly sight to see."
She choked back her tears and smiled at him warmly, "Good, because it's not like I cared, anyway it's just that it would be pathetic if I had to be by my rival's deathbed."
He rolled his eyes, "You're rambling. Typical tsundere."
"Hmmph. Shut up." She pouted.
They both broke into a hysterical laughter and smirked at each other, "Another promise. Only show this side to one another."
Kagura and Sougo fell asleep next to each other on their living room floor. They both subconsciously thought, maybe... I'm just happier with Sadist/China.A/N: okay, I'm sorry this one wasn't very comedic... At all... But please wait until the next chapter for the funny-ness.
