Sougo messaged his head and coughed violently. F*ck. My sickness is getting worse. I don't think I can spy on him today.
It was a quiet and lush Sunday morning. The coniferous trees sparkled beautifully with the white clumps of soft snow that accumulated on them. Sougo's bedroom was filled with the white shade, creating a painting-like scene. His crimson pools narrowed when he heard a knock at his bedroom door.
"Sadiiiist! You f*cking got me sick! I swear my chest feels like it's going to explode." It was Kagura. Her disheveled clothing suggested she had just woke up, however her long, silky, perfect locks and determined cerulean eyes said otherwise. She crossed her arms and looked at him with a stern expression.
He coughed into his fist and shot her a glare. "Not my problem. You shouldn't have come near me then. And I'm even more sick now, so if you want to stay in here longer, go ahead."
She was despondent, and Sougo's eyebrows furrowed worriedly. Sh*t. I need to stay on her good side. I want to last longer. But I also want her to last longer, too. Sh*t.
He awkwardly stood up, his legs feeling like needles from sitting down for so long. He approached her cautiously, keeping an eye on her limbs to be sure that they don't murder him. He grabbed her hand and kept his gaze downward, "I'm sorry. I'm just not feeling well. Go downstairs and live longer, will you? We promised we would only show our weaknesses to each other, correct? So..."
"I won't let you die. I thought you were stronger than this, Sadist, grow some courage." He thought when he'd look up, she'd be displaying her ostentatious lecture on how to be 'brave' or 'smart' like her. But he saw hardened eyes and a bit lip. He saw fear and anger. He saw a person who actually cared about him.
Sougo wrapped his arms around her trembling frame. "Who said I'll die?"
She clenched his shirt, "The old hag."
He gently pushed her away, which has never occurred before. Before, if he pushed her, it'd be powerful and painful. Her eyes were unreadable. He held back the temptation to hug her and forget the fact that he might die soon. He couldn't, though. It'd be too painful to be in the same room as her when he dies.
Sougo's eyes suddenly were in a haze. He coughed violently, and he fell to the ground. Kagura rushed to his side, crying out worried statements that he couldn't make out. He felt his mind blur and suddenly he was gone.
...
Kagura sat outside the same door. Hoping for the best. She grumbled and slapped her cheeks. I can't get depressed so soon.
"Nee-san!" Kagura brimmed with joy at the small boy who had just called out to her.
"Koga-chan! How are you?" She asked, hugging him gently.
He looked at her with large azure pools and tilted his head curiously at her. He then looked as if he was deep in thought, then excitedly jumped up and down, Kagura's eyes darting about to keep up with him. "NEE-SAN LOVES THE BOY IN THE ROOM!!"
She jumped and covered his mouth with her hand. The elderly looking at her with curious eyes. "Koga-chan, how do you even know there's a boy in there?"
Koga counted his fingers and said, "I talked to Nii-san when he came to get his medicine. He said he has to keep it away from the girl he likes! Nii-san looked like me, except with red eyes! I saw the Nii-san when you brought him in here, Nee-san."
Kagura paused. Hide it from the girl he likes... So when I saw the papers on the counter and he was comforting me... Didn't he...
'I have my medication, so don't worry.'"Nee-san, are you okay?" Koga asked waving his hand in front of her face. She jolted and quickly responded, "Sorry, Nee-san was just thinking."
Koga's azure eyes gleamed, "Nee-san, your face is red."
She suddenly slapped her cheeks, slightly startling the boy next to her. His eyebrow twitched. "Nee-san..."
"So, Koga-chan, you still have yet to tell me why you're here. You don't have to tell me if you're not comfortable, though."
Koga shook his head and twiddled his thumbs, his legs dangling over the wooden bench. "Koto-niisan is here. He's eight and has a sickness like your boyfriend."
She blushed and cleared her throat, "I think Koto-chan will be fine as long as you keep coming here to visit him."
He nodded his head slowly and smiled at her. It wasn't his usual bright smile, however. It looked... Fake. He jumped off the bench and turned around proudly. He stuck his small fist into the air and exclaimed, "I, Horoshi Koga, will protect Koto-niisan from the meanie sickness!"
Kagura cheered him on as he ran out of sight. She was somewhat embarrassed about the flamboyant boy, but she didn't care. It didn't matter.
A doctor left the room she was waiting beside and appeared to Kagura. He cleared his throat, "Kagura-san, there's good news and bad news. Do choose."
She held her breath, but her tongue, and clenched her fists. She muttered out, "bad."
The doctor rubbed his head, "Okita-san is very weak right now. He may not make it tomorrow. The good news is the odds are in his favour if you keep him safe throughout the night and morning and you take him here for us to try and remove the disease."
Kagura sat vigil, letting the information sink deep into her bones. She gulped and thanked the doctor. Before he could leave, however she said, "Keep him here. I'll be fine alone."
The doctor shrugged and smiled at her, the light tap of his shoes resounded throughout the whole hospital. She smiled to herself and choked back a sob at the sound of Sougo's coughing in the room behind her. I won't let anyone see you like this. You'll be healthy and beating those people up. Please wait, Sadist.A/N: I hate tests!!!! Sorry!!! I'll probably finish this by the next chapter!
