Kagura gingerly strode inside the small remote winter-cabin. Sougo eyed her warily, "and you were where?"
She frowned, "none of your business. Do you want me to cook?"
He tapped his foot impatiently, "China, where the hell were you?" This time, she ignored him and lunged herself onto the couch, Sougo sitting down next to her agitatedly tapping her shoulder for answers.
"What's it to you, huh? Don't you think you should spare the thought of not kissing your rival??" She looked away her face fleeted with embarrassed expressions.
He leaned in towards her, overstepping her boundaries, and whispered, "You liked the kiss, don't bother saying otherwise. And you changed the subject."
She looked at him in disbelief, "It was a peck! Do you expect me to like it?"
He smirked and leaned in even closer, "So you admit you want more? And you didn't answer my question yet, b*tch."
She pushed his face away, and her head drooped, "I went to see my future from an old hag. While you were sleeping yesterday, I went to go see her, and her fortune took up the entire day, and I went into the wrong room and fell asleep. I saw her again this morning, you see..."
She waited for him to comprehend what she had just said, and sat vigil. He finally opened his mouth to speak and said, "wh-what was your future?"
He narrowed his eyes when she blushed and twiddled her fingers. Oh for f*ck's sake, China, stop being so cute, or I'll murder you with my bare hands. Stop feeling this way, Sougo, damn! He ruffled his hair and said, "hello?"
She shook her head vigorously, "if I told you, it wouldn't work out, now would it?"
He shrugged, "I don't know, that's why I asked."
He stood up and calmly stepped out of the cabin, Kagura tilting her head curiously. What the hell...?An old hag, huh? Sougo cocked his head to the side, the satisfying crack of his neck echoed about the forest. He sighed and rubbed his neck frowning, "Must've slept weird. Sh*t"
He kept taking small steps, not exactly set on finding this old lady that the sly girl back home could've easily made up. His eyebrows twitched when he came across a small wooden booth on the side of the pathway. He clenched his sword and entered, nearly jumping at the sight of the very unattractive lady that occupied the wooden... Thing....
He messaged his neck again and sat on the small stool that was in front of her. An orb of some sort was held in a stand that was in a shape of a coal-carved hand. He gulped.
She winked at him and he slightly jolted. She said, "So you're Sadist, huh?"
His eyes narrowed, "it's Okita, Oba-san. I never knew someone of your age says names like that." So China wasn't lying to me.
She grinned a toothy grin and asked, "So what are you here for, Oki-chan?"
"My future. I want to know my future," he said sharply.
She proceeded to hover her wrinkled hands over her orb and chanted words that Sougo didn't bother to listen to. He coughed. She finished and said, in their Japanese language, "You have a frightening roller coaster like path ahead of you, Oki-chan. Be wary, because I'm afraid it's bad luck to tell you how soon this is going to happen. Your sickness which you have gotten from your sister will engulf you whole, leaving you bedridden and weak." She rested her hands on her lap, and beckoned him to come towards her.
Before she could speak, however Sougo stood up, "Oba-san, I don't want to die. I still have my job, I still have enemies I must defeat, I... Still have that gluttonous monster back at home..."
Her face was hidden by her grey locks of hair, and she suddenly attacked Sougo, pinching his cheeks hard. She huffed, "listen to your Oba-san, kid! Let me continue. I assume that 'gluttonous monster' is actually a pretty, strong, wise, yato girl, Hm? Don't bother answering, because I know I'm right. Annnnnyway, that girl needs you so she won't let you die. It's quite simple, actually."
Sougo's ears prickled, "wait, so... China needs me?"
The woman looked shocked, "You haven't noticed? You're a basic necessity of her life, Oki-chan. But don't think it's not vice-versa." Her lips curled up into a beaming smile, and she shoved him out of the booth.
"He-hey!" As he turned around to ask questions, the entire booth was gone. He was quite perturbed by the entire situation. He began to walk home, somewhat carelessly, and blew a bubble with his bubble gum that he had just bought a week ago. So I'll experience a near death scenario, at any given moment or time, and I expect China to help me? Is that woman senile? He stopped at the front of their cabin and opened it tentatively, hoping that his temporary roommate had taken a nap. Nope.
Kagura lunged toward him, which knocked him over. Her purple umbrella poised at his neck. She licked her lips and asked angrily but calmly, "Where. Did. You. Go?"
He rolled his eyes and propped himself on his elbows, causing her to slide down his torso and sit on his hips. She puffed her cheeks and repeated the question. He sighed, "I went to go see that future-telling woman you were talking about."
She jumped and shook her head vigorously, "SHE DIDN'T TELL YOU WHY I WAS THERE OR ANYTHING ABOUT ME, RIGHT?!"
Sougo raised an eyebrow and said, "No..."
Kagura let out a sigh of relief and nonchalantly asked, "so why were you there, Sadist? Doesn't really seem like something you would do..."
He growled and pushed her off, "None of your business. And how would you know that it's something I wouldn't do?"
She ebulliently walked to his side and said, "Because I know you, Sadist. Well."
He ruffled her hair and she blushed and ran to her room. He messaged his neck, noticing the pain slightly was subsiding. He chuckled, "yeah, I guess it is vice versa."
Kagura was underneath her bedsheets, "Why must he do this to me right now?"
They both mentally thought: "You're making it even more hard for me to let you go."
