"oh yeah? well i need you."

she pulled back from ross. did he really mean that? did he really need her as much as she needed him? maybe it was just another one of his stupid lies. that thought crossed her mind but as she stared at him, she somehow knew he wasn't lying. his eyes were wide and dull, not full of warmth and kindness as they usually were. his hands were shoved into the pockets of his tight jeans and he looked like he could cry at any second. he couldn't be pretending, she knew that. she had only seen him look like this once in their whole entire relationship.

"you said you needed to go home? you still live at that apartment right?" ross's voice was dry and quiet. he rubbed the back of his neck, a nervous habit.

she nodded and licked her lips, hoping she could still taste him.

"my car is really close. rocky told me to meet him here. strange meeting place, right? i can't believe him. here, i'll tell him. one second." ross pulled his phone out of his back pocket, sending one message:

'turns out we can't today. it's her.'

ross didn't even need to say who it was, rocky would know. she was all ross ever thought about and when she left, a part of him did too. his family noticed, of course. he just wasn't the same without her.

ross lead her to his car, immediately turning the heat up when they got in. he wanted to make sure she was comfortable. his fingers tapped on the steering wheel and he occasionally rubbed his sweaty palms against his ripped jeans, showing how nervous he was. she had noticed but she didn't want to be rude, so she just smiled to herself.

it wasn't long before they arrived at the apartment complex. ross looked over at her, opening his mouth to say goodbye.

"come in with me?" she interrupted him. his eyes went wide with relief and shock. she actually wanted him in her apartment? he silently nodded, a grin forming on his face.
