Whether it's your first piercing or maybe your 4th here are some ways you can attempt to persuade your parents to let you have another piercing. Especially if they're against it.
°Make a list of why you want it, and how you'll take care of it:
Doing this displays responsibility and that you obviously really want the piercing.
°Offer to pay:
This once again shows responsibility, maturity as well as showing the desire to have a piercing. Since they can be expensive.
°Talk about the best method & process :
The safer method is a needle. This is because a new one is used on each client and it's sterilised. It decreases chances of infection. It's better to use on places other than the earlobe.
A gun can be okay to use however it's not recommended. They cannot be cleaned as well as needles can. I'm The process is that a blunt earing is pushed through the skin which can cause pain and infection. This is fine to use on the earlobe however, I don't not recommend using it anywhere else!
If used on the cartilage it can cause it to shatter, not all the time but why risk it?
°Talk about prevention of infections:
This includes how you'll clean it, how often.
The method you'll use.
What you'll avoid during the first 1-3 month/s of having it pierced. Such as swimming.
Mention where you'll get it done. At a tattoo parlour is recommended since the piercer will most likely have done it multiple times and has many of their own.
Claires does piercings for free (on the ear) but with a gun, you have to pay for the earrings and solution. Piercing here is controversial.
Consider the metal you'll use. I used titanium because people don't react to it as much, it was much pricier but worth it.
Full gold and titanium are the best metals you can choose.
°How often you'll clean it:
This really depends on what your piercer recommends for you to do.
Some say 2 times a day and other 3. I recommend morning, afternoon and night.
Ensure you clean your piercing after swimming, showering and excercising.
The piercer may give you a cleaning solution, like Claires. Otherwise you can use a saline (sea salt water).
Clean around and behind the piercing site. Twist your piercing is possible only a little to allow the solution to enter the piercing hole.
Don't clean too much otherwise you'll dry out your ear.
You can use cotton pads or balls or even cotton swabs to clean your piercing.
Wash your hands with antibacterial soap all the time before you clean your ears!
°See if a family member has the same piercing and ask them to convince parents or to talk about it to them.
This is great because they can talk about their experience. If they're older than you or even your parents, even better!
My grandma did this for me :) She's even convincing my parents to let me have another. (Best gran ever😏)
° Listen to the reason why your parents don't want you having a piercing.
