The word daemon is an alternative spelling of demon and is pronounced /ˈdiːmən/ DEE-mən. The original pronunciation /ˈdiːmən/ has drifted to /ˈdeɪmən/ DAY-mən for some speakers.
Daemon Wolf /ˈdiːmən/ DEE-mən /wʊlf is a creature that resembles something of a giant wolf. Their average height is six and a half feet from shoulder to the ground. While body length is an extended foot as the tail is longer than a wolf. Their eyes are like bottomless pits, there is no light and they can not cast a reflection if you were to shine a light on them. There is only one coat color, it is a solid blood red so dark it appears black. However, there is no solidity to their body no matter how solid they appear. This breed of creature is also able to change between appearances of a Lycanthrope form to a human form, being that it is somehow evolved from those breeds.
A creature stood alongside at least a hundred others all excat duplicates of one another as if someone had gone crazy with a xerox machine. It's head bowed as its Alpha issued commands to them any bystander would never begin to differentiate one creature from the next until their eyes landed on the one that had been somewhere prior to the meeting. For the fact that its paw and size alone told a story of this creatures difference. Once the orders had been issued every one of the hundred in attendance turned at the same time, bowed their head, in one voice said "Hail Alpha" and blankly headed to the exit. The bottomless black pits for eyes showing one emotion hatred for their prey the alpha had marked out for them.
"That one there needs to be watched closer." The Alpha stated to one person standing beside him. "Yes, Alpha." "That Daemon Wolf is the exact reason why we kill Halflings. It should never have lived." The Alpha spat out as he turned and walked away leaving the person to stand confused. The person stood watching as the Daemon Wolves file out of the room keeping its eyes trained on the one that was different. Another person came over after a moment, "Alpha say who is to watch the Halfling?" The first shook its head no, "I thought Halflings were killed at birth?"
The other watched the Daemons a moment before responding, "Typically anything that breeds with a Daemon Wolf is called a Halfling and must be killed because of it having half a soul. Alpha can not properly control a Halfling. However if an Alpha Daemon breeds with something it is easily controlled yet there is a chance of it changing and its daemon side becomes destroyed. Those Halflings are rarely left to live if female and only when they are, they are male. That, however, is the Alphas daughter, only alive because he..." here he paused to shudder in disgust at his next word "loved the shifter he forced to become his mate. Of course, no one tells them they will die after breeding with a Daemon, they tend to forget we steal their very soul essence." The two finished speaking as the Halfling exited the building alongside the others. The journey back to where it came from was quite long, the need to seek out what the Alpha commanded was strong.
The darkness held the massive creature as if in a cloak of protection for not one human noticed it wandering down the street. Its fur had hints of blood red causing one to question if the fur was black with red or truly blood red so dark it was almost black. Of course, if a human was stupid enough to get close to even fathom that question they would be dead before knowing the answer. However on its front left paw, it looked as if it had been dipped in white paint as if out of curiosity, the only pure color on its coat. This creature of darkness turned its head side to side searching for its prey. Pausing outside one of the humans homes as the smell of fresh blood from a paper cut drifted to its nose, a moment or two passes before the inner struggle to kill is overturned by the order to find its prey overtakes it.
Continuing onward seeking out the scent of an unmated alpha shifter finally crosses its nose and turning the creature resets its path to hopefully overtake its prey. Minutes later as it heads through the trees silently coming closer it pauses, visual contact causes a type of smile to grace its muzzle. The alpha sits on a log surrounded by some of its pack as they talk about things the creature could careless about. It silently moves forward and stands now in human form raising its arms upwards as if holding a bow, then notching invisible arrows on the invisible bow it took aim and releases. Three very solid and real arrows black and slick as if covered in poison shoot towards the alpha male striking just a hairs breath from where he was sitting moments ago. A slight "Omg!" Whispered from the creatures mouth as it turned momentarily a blackness overtaking it.
Quick Note: ok so I know this is really short but any more would ruin the chapter. I wanted to introduce this breed of creature in this chapter anyhow. Please do not steal my creature I have been working hard to put it together not only for this story but possibly others as well.
I'm working on the next chapter now. Please let me know if I should set up a definition for Halflings.
