The Battle

Chapter 8

"Mmhh" I groan and opens my eyes and blinks a couple of times for my eyes to clear. I try to move but my wrists are earthbended into the ground behind my back. "Damn it" I mutter. I look around and noticed were in a cave. Then what catches my eye is that Korra is chained in mid air. I look behind her and sees this painted symbol which looks like the red lotus symbol. "Mmhh" Korra starts to wake up "Korra" I say and she looks up and goes wide eyes "Asami? What are you doing here?" "Zaheer...he wanted me to see you be killed" she looks down "Oh. Then I guess we aren't getting out of here...well I won't" "Don't say that. I'll think of something for both of us to get out" "Yeah good luck with that" "Korra stop it!" I raise my voice and she looks up at me stunned "You dated the smartest person ever so there is a possible way for me to think of something, alright?" she doesn't say anything "Alright?!" she sighs "Alright" "Good". I look around and thinks of a way for us to get out. "So Avatar you ready to face death?" Zaheer says behind me and I get a chill just hearing his voice. I look at him with pleading eyes and says "Zaheer please you don't have to do this" "Shut up Sato" "No I won't. Kill me instead just don't kill Korra" "Ghazan would you mind?". He nods and gags me with his earthbending. "Mmph" I look at him with a death glare. "So Korra you ready?" Zaheer says. She sighs "Just get it over with" I look at her stunned by what she said. She looks at me and mouths the words "I'm sorry". I look down and tries not to cry. "Fair enough. Bring the poison" Zaheer says. I turn to them and watch these two guys with hoodies come up. One is holding a bowl. "Once we administer this poison your body would naturally react forcing you into the Avatar state in an effort to keep you alive. Sadly for you, you'll be entering it for the last time. And the red lotus will witness the beginning of an era of true freedom" Zaheer says. "Mmpphh!" I try to get my wrists out of the ground but I can't. "Mmmmpphh!" I look at Korra and starts to cry. All she does is just stares at me and then nods. I don't know what the nod means but I'm guessing is she's telling me to just face the fact that she's gonna end her life. "Administer the poison" Zaheer says and one of the hoodie guys bends the poison out of the bowl and sends it to Korra. I look down not wanting to watch. All I hear is Korra screaming in pain.

I watch as Korra is still screaming in pain and struggling to not go into the Avatar state. Ghazan made a huge puddle of lava underneath Korra I guess for her to plummet into once she's in the Avatar state. It pains me to see her like this. Then one last struggle and she goes into the Avatar state. "Now destroy the Avatar!" Zaheer says and I muffle a scream and tries to break free but it's still no use cause I can't bend. I watch as Ming Hua sends a sharp block of ice toward Korra. "Mmpphh!" I scream then all of a sudden Korra breaths out fire for the block of sharp ice to melt. Then she pulls on the chain and it breaks off bringing along a boulder. She sends the boulder to Ming Hua and she wasn't quick enough to move out of the way so it crashed into her and she went flying close to me and hit the wall and is out cold. I look at Korra and she makes the left over of the chain wrap around her arm. When she did that she brought up the lava and blasts it to Ghazan who looked shocked and moves out of the way. I look shocked as well cause I think Korra just lavabended. She breaks off the chains around both her ankles and uses her airbending to push her back and uses her firebending to blast her forward so that she breaks off the last chain on her left wrist and she lands on the ground right in front of Zaheer. He looks pissed cause she escaped. He airbends at her but she dodges and sends a boulder his way but he dodges as well. I watch as they keep on fighting until Korra finally gets the upper hand and sends a boulder at him to where he didn't see coming and knocks him out. Now Ghazan and P'Li are left but I don't see them anywhere. Korra comes to me and earthbends me free and takes off the gag as well. She helps me up "We have to get out of her" she says and I nod. An explosion hit the wall close to us. We look to see where it came from and its P'Li. "Run!" we both say and we make a run for it. Blast after blast we've been close to getting hit. Once we make it out of the cave Korra collapses. "Korra" I kneel beside her and sees that she's starting to lose consciousness. "Come on Korra stay with me please" I put her arm over my shoulder and hosts her up. I look around and there's no way we're getting out of here without help. Another blast comes from behind us and I look around for a hiding spot. I see a hug rock and that would have to do. I set Korra down and kneels down and keeps watch for P'Li. I look at Korra and she's barely awake. I tap on her cheeks for her to stay awake "Stay with me Korra. Do not die on me you here? Help is on the way. Stay awake just a little longer please". "Asa...Asami...I'm...I'm sorry" Korra says in a whisper and then she goes limp. "Korra?" I shake her but she doesn't wake up. "No Korra please...don't die" I start to cry "Please...". "Come out wherever you are Avatar and your precious girlfriend!" I hear P'Li say out loud. I step out and holds my hands up in surrender. "There you are" she smirks "Wait" I say before she blasts me. "Just let us leave please" I plead "And why would I do that?" she asks "Because the Avatar is dead. There's no need for us anymore. Y'all just wanted Korra to die and she did. Now let us leave please. I swear to you I'm not lying and I'm not gonna do anything stupid cause y'all know I can't bend" she looks at me like I did lie but then she sighs and just waves her hand telling me to just go. "Thank you" I go back to Korra and picks her up bridal style and finds a way out of here. It's been a couple of minutes until I see an airship come. I sigh a relief cause it's a future industries airship. When it lands and the hatch opens Mako and Bolin come running out shocked. "What happened?" Mako asks. "I'll explain later for right now we need to get her back to Air Temple Island right away" "Why?" he asks "Stop asking questions and let's go" "Right" he says and we head in the airship and takes off. I sit down on the couch with Korra on my lap. I move her hair out of her face "Your gonna be alright love" I kiss her forehead and leans my forehead on hers "I promise".
