A/N:
Enjoy this tedious opening chapter

As a vampire, life is so much more boring than a human's. You all live for such short periods, but you think that your human life is boring? Try living for double the average life expectancy, or more.

Halloween. One day a year I can venture in my true form. I could even eat and leave the lukewarm blood still dripping from my mouth. However, that's dirty and disgusting so I'll clean myself up after eating.

For almost every holiday celebration, whether our own or another culture's, we celebrate it here. Halloween is a big deal. Events like this have been held since before I turned, Erwin (who is an impressive seventy-four years older than me and the eldest Vampire still living here) says they were even happening before he was born.

We try and attend every year but it can be suspicious when you've been attending since the mid eighteenth century. This year we've decided to make an appearance again, I must say I look forward to it. Last year we visited but only briefly and the year before I couldn't attend.

Although, I'd much rather wear a regular suit I have at home rather than this Count Dracula cape I put it around me regardless. I still wear a pure, white shirt and my cravat but the cape is necessary to fit in with the party.

My chunky, vintage jewellery looks less out of place on Halloween with these outfits, less questions, excellent.

I stand looking at my outfit in the mirror of my bedroom, Erwin comes in holding two masquerade masks. We wore these to a grand ball held out of town in the 1920's and haven't again since.

My mask matches the red and black tones in my cape, red on the lining of the inside. Erwin wears a purple mask with golden accents; matching his blond hair that is slick back. Much like my own, but I only did this on the right side. His purple blazer is the same he wore to the ball, all those years ago.

I peel a curtain back and study the full moon, covered slightly by grey clouds. Letting out a deep sigh, a low voice behind me says, "Let's go," and we do.

Later, when we enter the extravagant location of the party, me and Erwin get some strange looks as we walk through the door. We haven't returned into town for a while but the masks should hide us as strange individuals even in the slightest. The music is poor (as always). Now just to await the final dance...

The high ceilings are painted beautifully and haven't changed for centuries, their colours are dulling. Everything else here is new, even the antique ornaments. Although they'd look old to any human, as a vampire who hasn't been out in decades surrounded by only the contents of our home, these look young in comparison.

Halloween used to be genuinely creepy, not a ton of girls dressing up as whores. My eyes skim bare legs, stockings, exposed necks, blood red lips. Not in a paedophilic way, exactly... Merely bloodlust. My tongue runs across my teeth.

Control yourself. It's not like you can eat in the middle of all these people.

"I'll go get us some drinks," Erwin says, leaving my side. I lean casually against a nearby wall looking at no one in particular, until the door opens. Exactly like when me and Erwin came in, everyone's heads snap around almost in unison to see who comes through the huge oak doors.

I'm too... Short... Too see over the crowd of heads; some bearing hats; others crazy coloured wigs. So instead I fall back into the wall again with a small thud - the surface was further away than I had presumed.

Soon, I hear a course of laughter echo from the walls, starting from the doorway and eventually getting closer to me. I guess more people see the hilarious sight because more and more erupt into annoying snorts and fits of chortling laughter.

I think nothing of it.

Staring at my shoes, out of boredom, a flash of white lace catches my eye. More bare legs stop right infront of me.

Before I didn't notice it, but I'm famished. I smell sweet scents of warm blood. I feel my lip curling upwards. The whites of my eyes change colour, blood red.

Erwin comes back with a drink in hand and I catch him secretly adding a few drops of blood to the plastic cup to hold me off. The laced outfit is gone, along with its owner.

"I have to do something," I tell him simply before swiftly gliding from his side. Finding myself looking for the girl in the laced outfit I awkwardly scan every female skirt. I enter the main room and scan garters, mini skirts and fishnet tights. Nothing.

Sighing, I take a step back. Then some imbecile walks right into me. My small frame hits into a group of people behind me, making me pour a large amount of my drink down my front. I bounce straight back off of the human barrier that saved my skull.

Shaking my head I begin to raise my voice, brushing droplets of the drink from my cravat "You dumb brat!" I look at the girl's stockings, distracted. "Next time, watch were you're-"

Distracted.

White lace.

Slowly, for some reason scared of the sight I might face, I tilt my head. I'm not really focusing much on what she looks like because I'm lost in her eyes. I'm lost in the middle of the forest, small flecks of brown represent wood cabins. White light reflects in her eyes, the sunlight beaming through branches, twigs and leaves.

I shake my head, distracted again. Then her aroma hits me. I feel her heartbeat screaming in my ears. Falling to my knees in desperation to withhold such desires, she tries to pick me up.

"Leave me!" I shout. She must be scared because she jumps back quicker even than a vampire would react. Downing the remains of my drink, I stand on unsteady ground while removing my mask. The room spins, I haven't eaten in weeks but it feels like decades.

When I truly look at her face, I realise she isn't a she at all.

"Haha... Slight bad start... I'm Eren" he says, scratching the back of his head nervously.

I'm sure my face still looks astonished as I say only my forename to him, no other words follow it. Although I'm meant to ask why he's in a French maid's outfit I instead look at it with total confusion.

"It was a dare!" He explains almost agitated. My lips remain pursed.

I've never known a male smell so... Tasty.

Not only does his blood ensnare me but his whole aura. His actual scent is like Old Spice mixed with burning wood and Scotch. I guess he's been drinking whiskey and he doesn't just always smell of scotch...

A/N: "Man, first we get a lame ass first chapter, now a long Authors Note too?"
I know, I know that's what you're thinking, I'm sorry!
---(T^T)---
P.S that's me (above) in total defeat over writing this.
ANYWAYS. I just wanted to state that because this is a slightly awkward AU fic it might be harder for me to find things to suit the chapters to add as the image. For instance, this chapter was actually worked around Maid!Eren because... Well, that's self explanatory. Just, damn... Look at him.

Thank you so much for reading this and I hope you enjoy my fanfiction as much as I do writing it.
Please don't forget to vote and comment as it speeds up update timings! (Do consider that I'm also working on other books)
