Chapter 12-Oct 11, 2013 Friday Afternoon
Knock! Knock! “I got it, Mom” I yelled as I rolled over to the door. I quickly opened it and saw Leana there with a gift under her arm. “Leana!” I cheered as I pulled on the wheels to back up. “Come in.”
“Sam, I’m so glad that you’re okay,” she told as she walked over to the couch and sat down. I glided till I was a foot in front of her; then she held out the present. “This is for you.”
“You didn’t have to get me anything,” I replied as I looked at it carefully, setting it on my lap to be extra safe of not dropping it.
“Of course, I had too. You’re my best friend,” she said as I pulled off the wrapping. “I hope you like it.”
I picked up the book titled Otherkin before pulling out a knee-length dress of lime-green. “This is wonderful. Thank you,” I cheered as I smiled at her. “So what do you want to do?”
“Could we bake?” she inquired as she took the wrapping from me and started toward the kitchen.
“Sure… Could you get the mix box down? It’s up there,” I told, pointing to a high cabinet and we both burst into giggles.
