       Chapter 11-Oct 11, 2013 Friday Morning

I woke after a restless night. I sat up and picked up my cell from my headboard before powering it on. Ten o’clock, I red before checking my messages.

Hey, school is getting out early. Can I come over please? Leana…

       Sure. Sami…

I put my phone back on the headboard and scooted to the edge of the bed. I was determined to do this by myself. I moved my legs to over the wheelchair before grabbing the far arm; then I slowly lowered myself down.

I pushed the wheels, gliding over to the closet. I pulled down a blue, flowery dress before reaching into the dresser for clean under-clothes. I placed the items on my lap before pushing on the dresser, going backward slightly; then I pushed on the right and pulled the left, making me turn toward the door.

I pushed the wheels, making myself fly out of the room and into the bathroom across. I closed the door behind me and slipped off my clothes; then I sponged myself clean before slowly pulling on my under-clothes. I next slipped the dress over my head and pulled till my head was through; then I pushed my butt off the chair before carefully using my left hand to pull the bottom down. I fell back down onto the seat and straightened the skirt. I glanced in the shower mirror and snatched the brush from the sink top; then quickly I ran it through my hair.

I reached back and opened the door before pulling on the wheels to go backward. I hit the doorframe of the room before adjusting to go down the hallway. I pushed on the wheels, gliding into the living-room; then I slowly turned and made it into the kitchen.

“Hi Sami,” my mom greeted as she glanced at me before returning her gaze to whatever she was cooking.

“Where’s Bekka?” I asked as I pulled any wheels, moving over to the cabinet. I reached up, but the cups were too high. I pushed on the arms; then balanced on one hand before reaching up with the other. I missed and fell back onto the seat with a Thump.

“Sami! Are you okay?” my mom exclaimed as she spun around.

“Yea, just fine,” I groaned as I pushed on the counter to glide back.

“Did you need something out of there?” she inquired as she strolled over and opened it.

“A cup?” I replied as I stared at her legs, jealously.

“Just ask next time, sweetie,” she told as she grabbed out one and passed it to me. She walked back to her cooking before telling, “Bekka is in school.”

“O…” I muttered as I navigated over to the fridge and easily pulled it open. “When am I going back?” I asked as I grabbed the chocolate milk from the low shelf. I set it on my lap and back up to the table, where I quickly filled my cup. I moved over to the fridge again and put the milk back before returning to the table.

“I was thinking Monday since you are getting used to moving around already,” she commented before pouring hash-browns onto a plate and sitting it in front of me.

“Ok…” I said before taking a sip of choco milk. “You are alright with James taking are to the movies later, right?” I glanced up at her before sticking my fork into the hash-browns.

“Yea, just be careful,” she told as she slid into the chair next to me. “You know that I’m very proud of how well you’re handling this, right?”

“Yes Mom,” I replied before shoveling another forkful into my mouth.
