Chapter 26-October 19, 2013 Saturday Evening

“So is Leana picking you up?” my mom asked as she braided my hair, while watching the news over my shoulder.

“No…Jack actually is…” I replied as I glanced at the nearby mirror, admiring her handiwork before hearing Beep! Beep! from outside. “See you later, Mom.” I rolled out of the living room toward the door and opened it to see Jack. “Hi Jack,” I greeted as he held the screen door open for me.

“Sam…You are very pretty…” he muttered as he stared at my blue and white polk-dotted dress, while I glided toward his car. He swooped me up and placed me on the passenger’s seat, a smile covering his face. He placed my wheelchair in the backseat before hopping in himself. “So to the pizza joint?”

“I guess so…” I replied as I noticed a picture of me taped to his visor. I smiled as I stared at it, while he carefully drove to our favorite pizza place.

He parked the car before turning to look at me. “We’re here…I’ll get your chair…” he told before slipping out the door and rushing out the door; then he set it outside my door. “You don’t mind me picking you up, do you?” he asked as he lifted me again.

“No…I like it…” I answered as he set me down with a frown. “Inside?”

“If we must…” he replied before pushing my chair into the restaurant. We easily found our friends and Jack pushed me into my spot before sitting down beside me. “Hi guys,” he greeted Leana, Dimitri, and a couple others.

“Hello. We already ordered a pep and cheese,” Leana told as Dimitri wrapped an arm around her.

“Sounds good,” Jack said as he slid his hand under the table, touching mine. “Good for you?” he asked, glancing at me and I simply nodded, while slipping my hand into his.
