Aurora's Pov
I was driving my car to the school I teach at when I got a phone call from my husband.
Me: Hey, Blayze.
Blayze: I got a phone call from Mikayla and it seems like she's in trouble. Do you think you can go to her place and pick up the girls?
Me: Sure, I'm about to drive past hers now.
Blayze: Thanks, baby. Give me a call once the girls are at school. Then I can call Mikayla and tell her that they arrived safely.
Me: I can call her myself.
Blayze: See you tonight.
Me: Love you, Blayze.
Blayze: I love you, too, Aurora.
I hang up the phone. I put the indicator in and turn into the driveway. I tell her security team that I'm there to pick up Mikayla's girls and they let me in without seeing my ID.
I frown.
Those guys aren't doing their job properly if they're letting anyone in.
I drive up to the house and I see Mikayla and the girls standing by the stairs. I step out of her car and move over to her. "Hey, Mikayla. I got here as soon as I could. What's going on?"
Mikayla looks at the car and back to me. "My Ex has been coming and going. I think he did something to my car and I can't take a chance with the girls. If anything happened to them I wouldn't be able to live with myself." She gives Abi some money. "Order your lunch today. She watches the girls climb into the car. I buckle Bex up and then I climb into the driver's seat. I pull away from the house.
I turn the radio on and the girls start to sing. Since, the daycare is close I drop Bex off first.
Abi comes in with me and we put away Bex's things.
I hope my kid doesn't see me.
I sign in Bex and then I kneel down to her height. "Your Mum will pick you up today." I kiss her cheek.
She smiles. "Bye, Aura."
I wave to her as Abi and I leave the daycare.
Abi climbs into the front seat next to me. She looks out the window as we make our way to her school. "Do you know why Mum couldn't drive us to school today?"
"Blayze, told me that your Mum thought the car wasn't safe to drive in. So, she asked my husband to pick you up. But, he was busy. I was driving by your place to go to the school I teach at when I got the call to pick you up." I stop at a red light before the school. When the light turns green I drive through the intersection.
Abigail screams. "Car!"
I turn to the left and see a car speeding towards us. I don't have time to do anything but wait for the full impact of the crash. I hold my arm in front of Abi. The car slams into mine and my car flips over a couple of times. I am thrown in all sorts of direction.
The car stops flipping and lands on its roof. I look over at Abi.
She has blood all over her face. Her eyes are closed.
I hear a male voice say. "Take the girl. Leave the woman she's not apart of this. When we get to the hideout, clean my daughter up and send a doctor to the place." I see a pair of shoes stop in front of the passenger side door.
