I woke up to the sound of really loud obnoxious laughing.... Actually it sounded more like giggling. I tried to shut out the noise with my pillow but was unsuccessful. I groaned, i sure did miss the quiet mornings.
I put on a silky robe and exited the door. I was almost blinded by all the morning light stretching through the wide open curtains all over the house. I walked down the stairs and as i walked my stomach growled with anticipation as i smelt the fresh pancakes. I entered the kitchen and was greeted by the sight of everyone sitting at a table. My dad and Sally were immersed in conversation while Dianne was talking and giggling slyly with a handsome guy i hadn't seen before.
It didn't take long before everyone had stopped eating and talking as they noticed me. I finished walking down the steps as my dad walked up to me and gave me a quick hug. "Morning, we would've waited for you but honestly we were convinced you'd sleep through the day." I nodded as he handed me a plate of food anf i sat down at the table.
"Where's Lilliana?" I asked curiously.
"She's asleep." I raised a brow. "She's six it's basically all she does when she isnt screaming aroind here." Sally continued causing us all to laugh.
"Oh and before i forget, Jared this is my sister Kasey and Kasey this is fiancé Jared."
I smiled. "Nice to meet you." He nodded. "You too." We continued to eat having small conversation but it was a little less comfortable since I'd arrived.
Once i was done i left to shower and get ready for the day. I went downstairs to the kitchen to get a glass of water when i saw jared in the kitchen washing the dishes.I sat on the counter next to where he was doing the dishes. "If this is how all guests are treated i think i prefer a hotel." He smiled but shook his head. "Nah i offered." I let out an exaggerated gasp. "Ah i see sucking up to the parent before you take her away." He laughed and feigned a shocked expression. "How'd you know."
"How old are you?" "19, you?" I gave him a light slap on his shoulder. "Ever heard that thing about a woman and her age." He pretended to think about it before replying. "No, nope nothing comes to mind." I rolled my eyes as he started to drain the water in the sinks as he'd finally finished the dishes. "So what do you do? Career wise." He smiled. "You still havent answered my question but imma let it slide. I am an actor." I frowned. "I have never seen you before are you more into stage acting or what?" He laughed short and humourless. "Ha, i wish. I havent really done any work. I mean this town isnt exactly the fame and fortune hub in case you haven't noticed." I nodded. "Believe me i know. I mean i thought a life here would be just as crazy as in New York but i was definitely wrong. You know you'd get more opportunities if you moved to a bigger city instead of working as a ...""Waiter, im a waiter down at Aunty Jo's-" i cut him off with a frown. "What you're not a fan of hers?" I shrugged. "I mean besides the free hot chocolate and muffin she gave me, her lack of coffee does cloud my vision." He rolled his eyes."Typical city people." I scoffed. "Oh please, says the one dreaming to be just like us."
He was about to say something when his phone buzzed,he read the message and sighed. I gave him a questioning look.
"It's a friend of mine she wants to hang out." He put his phone in his back pocket and headed out, he popped his head into the kitchen entryway.
"Hey, you wanna join us?" I nodded grabbing my phone and my backpack. I was glad id decided to dress more casual today.
I stopped to notify Jeremy that he too could go look for another job as the hassle was almost non existent. He agreed and i gave him some money for a cab and a bit extra. I got into Jared's car and my heart jumped when he hooted. "What was that about?"
"I gotta drop my fiancée off at work and she's-" he hooted again. "Taking her time. You'd think her job being so important would give her incentive to hurry up." He lifted his hand to hoot again but this time i grabbed his hand. "Oh my god i think she gets the message!" He held his hands up in surrender.
"Good. So why is her job so important, is her family struggling money wise or something?" He shook his head. "Their not rich but they're doing OK. Her job is important because we're saving money for our wedding and after when we move to New York." I grinned. "Wow that's so cool. I'm guessing thats when you'll get your career started." He nodded. "She finishes her business degree end of this year so we can finally move." I smiled i was impressed by his devotion to her...their devotion to each other. It shocked me, their so young getting married and moving cities. It was all really crazy. I wonder how much she has told him about our sisterly situation.
I know my Mom hadn't included anything about all the stuff Diana would be getting in her letter to Annie so i had to let her know but something was holding me back. Something made me want to wait and see gain a mutual trust. We'd spoken so much but I still felt as though I knew nothing.
I just needed more time and getting to know the kind of man she was going to marry was part of that.Regardless of my doubts I still felt a connection to her and my Dad. I definitely want to explore it and connect with little Lily as well...and maybe Sally.
