Confusion

I got home a few hours earlier than my parents, so I took my laptop upstairs to my room with a hot cup of coffee I just made. I had a request for Skype, and after opening it I realized it was Gerard. "Hey Sarah!" He exclaimed enthusiastically. "Oh, hey Gee." I took a long drink of my coffee. "Sarah, i've been thinking about this for a while now, but do you think I could come stay with you?" I nearly spit out my coffee at the screen. "What?!" I asked choking. "Well my parents want me to get out of the house for a few weeks. We just got a bug infestation and it's disgusting." I was still holding back from choking on the boiling hot coffee. "That's gross, Gee" I know, but please?" It seemed as if he was begging now. "Yeah you can stay at my house. You might have to sleep in the guest bedroom though, since my parents are both idiots." He was silent for a moment, looking down as if he had just finished reading a text. "Okay awesome." I took another sip of my coffee. "Who are you texting?" "Uhh.." He stuttered in his words, looking up at me and back down at his phone. "My friend Claire. Why?" "Claire? Who the hell is that?!" I thought silently to myself. "Oh no reason. Just wanted to make sure you weren't hiring some hitman to come kill me." He laughed and I laughed. I then heard a car door slam. "Oh shoot, I think my parents are home." I turned around. "Does that mean you gotta go?" He asked with an upset look on his face, he then laughed quietly and looked down at his phone. "No, I don't have to go." He gave me a crooked smile. "Okay."

"What's so funny"

"My friend's just funny.'

"I haven't heard of this Claire girl. Who is she?"

"Oh just someone I used to go to school with. A really nice girl."

"Okay." I stopped the conversation by taking a long drink of my coffee.

"Sarah, there's nothing going on between Claire and I"

"I know, I know."

Gerard rolled his eyes at me.

"Ugh, I gotta go. I said quickly when I heard my dad calling my name in an angry voice from downstairs.

"Oh, okay, bye."

"B-"

I didn't get a chance to say goodbye as he turned off Skype. Gee was a really good friend of mine, and I trusted him, but I didn't trust what he said about there being nothing going on between them. I sighed. closed my laptop shut, and rolled over onto my back, hair falling into my face. I guess I don't have the perfect life every girl wants, in fact, I have the opposite of that. I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep. My dad called me again from downstairs. "SARAH!!" He screeched. "COMING!!" I yelled back down at him. I opened my door and walked down the stairs, crossing my arms when I stopped in front of him. "Don't give me that look." He pointed to the door. "You left the door unlocked. Someone could have snuck in while you were up there talking with your pedophile fr-" I cup him off. "Gerard isn't a pedophile!" I pushed him back and ran back upstairs. "SARAH! GET BACK DOWN HERE!" I heard loud footsteps running up the stairs. I decided I wasn't going to let him get in my way. Not tonight. And even if I still was exhausted at almost midnight, I snuck out through my bedroom window. I shoved the screen out and crawled out onto the roof of the house. "Sarah!" He opened my door and I skitted across the roof as fast as I could, dropping myself at the end. "FINE! WE'RE BETTER OFF WITHOUT YOU!" I heard him scream back at me a slam the window shut, shattering it. He then cursed and I laughed. "What a big baby." I hopped down and started walking to my school, where I knew there was a payphone. I was going to call Jesse and as her to come pick me up from the school parking lot. She was the only friend I knew who had a car, besides Gerard, who drove his mom's old Honda. I laughed when I realized how much of an awesome nerd he was. He may not have been superman, but he was perfect in my mind. I walked down the street, almost turning the wrong way and going to the library. But I stopped myself right before I did that, walked over the school and put a quarter in the pay phone. "How the hell does this work..." I said under my breath. A creepy lady's voice told me what to do. The phone was so old that the voice sounded like a robot. I dialed in her number. 503-867-5309. "Hello?" A sleepy Jesse picked up the phone. "Jess, my parents kicked me out, I need a ride home." She sighed. "Okay. Where are you..?"

"At The School."

"Ugh, okay, I'll be there in a few."

"Okay, thanks Jess."
