The Wolves of the Forest

Chapter 2

Sorry this story is horrible, being its my fist werewolf story XP

Wake up something shouted. Looking around I didn't see anything.. Wait a moment. Everything looks so.. Clear! Looking down at myself I see two enormous grey paws. What the heck! I tried to yell but it came out as a bark. How did this happen to me? I thought. You have wolf genes in your blood, that's how. Wolf genes what are you talking about? Who are you anyways? I questioned looking back up at the moon. Someone in your family carries the wolf gene, I am your wolf Ash. I feel strangely calm about this.. Hm, well uh hi Ash I'm Leda. Do we share a mind then? Yeah we do, but I will only speak when needed so you don't have to worry. Also, you can shift whenever you want. It's not one of those cliche movies where you can only change on a full moon. Oh thank goodness, how do I change back to my human form? I need to get home my dad is probably freaking out. Well all you have to do is think about your body, think about slowly changing back to yourself. Doing what she told me to I felt this strange crack in my bones, but it didn't hurt at all. I felt a shiver ran through my body, looking down I realized that my clothes must have come off during the shift. Looking around I found my clothes throwing them on. Once I neared my house I saw a shadow in my living room window, looks like i'm going to be in heaps of trouble. Walking inside I heard my dad's feet pad across the tile and to me pulling me into a tight embrace. "Where have you been, your friends tried looking for you." My father asked once pulling away. "Sit down we need to talk," I told him walking into the living room and sitting across my father. "I shifted," Was all I said looking for his reaction. A flicker of surprise crossed his face. "I could have sworn you were just human, when you were surprised to shift you didn't so I just assumed you were human." My father said with a sad smile. "Well I did, I need to know. Was it you or mom that carries the gene?" I questioned getting right to the point. "It's my gene, your mother was human. Guess that's why she died earlier than me." Dad said looking at me with tears pricking his eyes. "Well, I'm a wolf now. Getting used to her talk is so weird," I chuckled sadly. "Enough with the sadness, I want to see her. Please?" Father questioned. Nodding I stood up and walked to an opened area. Closing my eyes I shifted. "No, this isn't possible." I heard my father whisper, if I didn't have better hearing than I do now I wouldn't have heard it. "Shift now Leda," He said in a firm tone. Shifting back I grabbed the blanket next to me to cover myself. "What's wrong dad?" I questioned. Wasn't he supposed to be happy that I'm like him? "Leda, I can't be the one to tell you. Now, I'm sure you have some questions?" He said patting the spot next to him. Sitting down I got the question out that I was dying to know. "Why was mom so special to you dad?" He took a sharp intake of breath. "Your mother was my mate, I loved her to know end. I miss her dearly." He said breathing out shakily. "A mate? What on earth is that?" I questioned steering away from the subject of my mom. "A mate is someone who you find once you shift, they are the best thing ever. You will never want to be apart from them, they will love you and protect you with all they have. Mates truly are a wonderful thing." My father said, a tear sliding down his face. "Oh, how do you know when you find them?" "Well, you just know. When you find yours you'll know right away what I'm talking about." He said smiling at me. "So being we are wolves, sorta. Do we have packs?" I felt stupid for asking but I wanted to know. "Yes we have packs, we are both in one now. You just don't know it, before you ask yes we have rankings. I am a Warrior, I protect the pack. Well to be specific I'm the Head Worrier." He said, pride shining in his eyes. "A warrior? That's so cool!" I yelled impressed. He laughed standing up reaching a hand out to me. "I think we should head to bed, it's late. We can talk more about this later." I reached out taking his hand. "Well alright, goodnight dad. I love you." I said kissing his cheek heading upstairs. I was to tired to change into pajamas so I just threw myself at my bed. Right as I touched the mattress I was in another dreamless sleep.

I noticed this chapter, or more like all of them are pretty short. In the future when I get better at writing the chapters will definitely be longer.
