Chapter 8: Complications of Multiple Identities

We race down the hanger trying to get to the lab in time. In time for what I’m not sure, but we have to show this to my Dad. Man he will be pissed off, just like I am right now. We enter the lab just as Fury and Tony are at each other’s throats again.

‘What is phase two?’ Tony says, although I think he knows the answer well and clear. I dropped the weapon on the table with a big clank. They all turned around. I cross my hands over my chest and my costume jingles.  

‘Phase two is SHIELD used the cube to make weapons’ Steve said in an outrage.

‘The computer was moving a little slow for us’ I say. Fury seemed the one who is surprised the most. ‘Rogers we gathered everything related to the Tesseract, this does not mean-‘ Fury began his redemption.

‘I’m sorry Nick. What were you lying?’ Tony interrupted. He brought the screen around to face us. Pictures of grenades and machine guns all created by the Tesseract light up on the screen in blue. And here I was thinking we were tracking this thing down for the better good. We are no better than Loki.

‘I was wrong Director, the world hasn’t changed a bit’ Steve seethed. That’s when I knew nothing would ever be peaceful again. Romanoff and Thor entered the lab. I knew this was not going to end well.

‘Did you know about this?’ Banner asked Romanoff.

‘You want to think about removing yourself from this environment Doctor?’ Romanoff took a few steps forward. Banner just gave a slight chuckle that set me on edge.

‘I was in Calcutta. I was pretty well removed’

‘Loki is manipulating you’ Romanoff tried.

‘And you’ve been doing what exactly’ Banner snapped. Oh god if Banner got angry, I would have no clue what the receiving end of the Hulk would do to this place. And I wasn’t going to find out.

‘You didn’t come here because I bat my eyelashes at you’ now Romanoff was only an arms distance away, she could tackle him now. I wonder if I was the only one who noticed that.

‘Yeah and I’m not leaving just cause suddenly you get a little twitchy. I would like to know why SHIELD is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction’ Banner looked at every person in the room. He was like a lit ruse and no one knew how long the ruse would go for. I started to get a headache and I felt myself getting dizzy.

‘Cause of him’ Fury pointed on the other side of the room to Thor. Thor just seemed very perplexed, he was taken totally off guard.

‘Me?’ he asked.

‘Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that levelled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone but we are hopelessly, hilariously, out gunned’ Fury informed. Boy, I was sure wrong about SHIELD I thought they had everything under control, guess not if Fury is jabbing all of this to us.

‘My people want nothing but peace with your planet’ Thor confirmed.

‘But you’re not the only people out there are you? And you’re not the only threat. The world’s filling up with people that can’t be matched. They can’t be controlled’ Fury snapped.

‘Like you control the cube’ Steve said. Oh no, not him. I never wanted him to be in this argument.

‘You’re work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki it and his allies. It is a signal to all the realms that the earth is ready for a higher form of war’ Thor said above the ruckus.

‘A higher form?’ I said weakly.

‘You forced our hand, we had to come up with something-‘ Fury started.
