My gut dropped and I was afraid something would kill me before I broke my neck on the rubble on the city. So I fell. Trying to look for a skyriders ship to land on, but there was none.

I pulled a thread of strength that had been hidden inside me for so long. I used the wind to catch me and so I was again flying. But the bruises on my neck blossomed and I felt pain fill me. My shoulder ached with pain and my entire body was refusing to move. I landed harshly on the rubble with a smack. I was so tired and I hurt too much. I heard a clank of metal infront of me. I pulled myself up, my knees wobbled and my head spun.

'Oh my god, Naveen are you hurt?' Tony asked, taking my arm steading me.

'No, I'm fine' I cleared my eyes. 'Thanks anyway' All of this war stuff had made me all mooshy.

'Hey save it. We're in the middle of a war' he shot up again and I followed him. Still the battle continued. I could still here screams ringing in my ears, it seemed Loki's army was unending. I was trying to help out Romanoff and Steve but it was impossible to keep the Chitauri numbers low. My muscles tightened and weakened and I was growing wearier and wearier. I felt shards of glass and debris, scratch and gash my arms, and face. Romanoff had grabbed a Chitauri weapon. She was like a machine. But she was tired too, she was about to shoot Steve, she relaxed and slumped on a car.

'Captain, none of this is gonna mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal' I looked up. It was true it had been hours and still the army was strong and the continuous flow was unchanged.

'Our biggest guns couldn't touch it'

'Well maybe it's not about guns' she puffed. I saw a low stream of Chitauri and more dropped down on the crushed bridge.

'Well if you want to get up there, you're gonna need a ride' Romanoff chucked the weapon away, exhausted.

'I got a ride' she walked a few metres away, getting ready for a run up.

'I could use a boost though'

'You sure about this?' Steve braced and positioned his shield for her to jump.

'Yeah it's gonna be fun' she sounded just as worried as her face showed. She bolted towards and car jumped on the hood, leapt onto Cap's shield and was thrown up into the stream of skyriders, she grabbed onto a ship. I smiled, she's got style.

With Romanoff's extra boost of energy so did I. I killed more Chitauri than I could count at one point. Steve and I seemed to have it sorted. But I had bit off more than I could have chewed. Soon I was cornered by Chitauri, with a bloody arm, bleeding temple and unarmed. I was surely going to be shot. But the Cap's shield sliced through them quick enough. He put out a hand for me to take.

'Thanks' I said sheepishly. He smiled.

'No problem' but we were interrupted by Barton.

'Captain. A bank on 42nd past Madison. They've cornered a lot of civilians over there'

'I'm on it' he panted.

'Captain' I said as he ran off. 'Just... be careful'... I can't believe I said that! In the middle of a war and that was the best thing I could come up with?!?

I destroyed Chitauri again and again. I felt pain in my wounded shoulder again and wondered if it would ever heal. I felt a hot, stinging pain in my leg. A huge piece of glass had lodged itself in my ankle. I knelt down and ripped it from the flesh. I cut my hand trying to free it. I could see more red than gold or white on my body. I swiped away from blood that had come into my vision on my cheek, but my hurt thoughts were interrupted by an explosion. Without thought I flew towards the source of it.

'Captain!" I screamed as I saw him fly out of the window and smash onto a car. I raced over to him and saw him struggle to get up. I spotted a waitress with blonde hair look our way. She was trying to get my attention. I think she was wanting to tell me something. I saw her trying to negotiate with the fire fighters, I caught some of what she was trying to tell them "I" and "thanks" I stumbled back, she was trying to thank the Captain and she couldn't. I was no hero. I saw as they shoved me back. For a moment I forgot the screams and the armies. I forgot about my bloody wounds and the people dead. Everything seemed silent and muffled, by my thoughts. What were we fighting for? I wanted to collapse into a sleep. A sleep so deep no one would dare wake me. If and only if I wanted to ever wake again. It would be when I was healed and I could not see my entire body covered in gashes and bruises and blood. When I woke up I would not be Priestess anymore.

I wanted to give up. Steve clapped his hand on my shoulder. I didn't respond.

'Naveen, come on' he said quietly. But I only heard it partially. We met Thor back on the bridge. The rubble and the devastation built up. We hit and crushed as many as we could, but it was non-stop. Steve got shot in the gut. My eyes widened, but Thor reacted first.

'You ready for another bout?' he asked.

'What you getting sleepy?' I smiled. Even bruised, bloodied and battered he could still shine a little bit of light on this horrifying situation. But when the glass of a car shattered a felt like a pin cushion, being jabbed by a thousand needles of glass. I got up and began picking the glass from my thighs and my neck. Blood poured from the wounds like water. I had never seen so much blood in my life, and quite frankly it made me queasy knowing it was my own blood.

'I can close it' I heard a very tired Romanoff say through the earpiece. 'I can close it' she sounded like she was fainting.

'Romanoff!?' I shouted.

'Can anybody copy? I can shut the portal down'

'Do it' Steve and I said together.

'No' I heard Dad say 'Wait'

'Stark these things are still coming!'

'Well I got a nuke coming and it's gonna blow in less than a minute' A nuke? Holy crap! A bomb was heading straight to the city.

'And I know just where to put it' he said. I widened my eyes.

'Dad, no!' I whined.

'Stark, you know that's a one way trip'

'Tony?' I said weakly.

'I'm here, Naveen' I collapsed on the concrete.

'Tell JARVIS to call Pepper' I said quietly.

I heard a sigh on the other end of the line. I stared down at my bruised body. I could feel the weight of eyes heavy on me. I dared to look up as we saw the tiny red dot, Ironman as he propelled into the portal. We waited, in unison the whole city of Chitauri aliens dropped dead. The burning explosion of the missile flashed through the portal. I could only pray that Tony made it back alive.

'Close it' I heard Steve say. I felt salty tears fall from my eyes.

'No!' I sprung forward. 'No!!' I screamed. I thrashed as Thor put his arm around me, keeping me from flying up to the portal.

'NOO, TONY!' I screamed, my throat trembled and I choked on my tears.

'No, no' I collapsed again. Silence clouded the three of us in pure despair.

'Son of a gun' I wiped my tears away. I looked up. I saw the Ironman suit flop through the air. I smiled and just expected that he was ok. But he wasn't falling slowly. He was so fast, I thought any second he would crush here infront of us.

'He's not slowing down!' Thor announced. He started spinning his hammer. But a huge green monster emerged from nowhere and snatched my Dad like a match.

The Hulk slid down buildings and crashed landed in front of us. We raced over and Hulk tossed Tony aside. Thor ripped his helmet face aside. Steve knelt beside him, and placed a hand over the dull arc reactor. I knelt beside him. Tony wasn't moving and his arc reactor was not blue.

'Dad, Dad, no, no, stay with me' I mumbled. I put my right hand on his cheek. But I leant back. An almighty roar rocked the city. Hulk had decided that Tony wasn't gone. I covered my ears and smiled as Tony shuddered awake.

'Tony, oh my god' I cried as he looked around.

'What the hell, what just happened?' I cleared my eyes.

'Please tell me nobody kissed me' I laughed and Steve smiled.

'We won' the Captain declared. Tony closed his eyes and relaxed.

'Alright, yay, alright good job guys' I laughed and placed my hand on Tony's arm.

'Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just, take a day. You ever tried Shawarma?' I kneeled back and laughed like I was at home comfortable and happy.

'There's a Shawarma joint about three blocks from here.'

'I don't know what it is, but I want to try it'

'If it's still there' I say

'We are not finished yet' Thor said. We all stayed silent.

'And then Shawarma after' Tony said. I laughed again. We rounded up Barton who had been stranded in a building without arrows, Dad got him out of the building and he also took Steve up to Stark Towers. I carried Romanoff up too. It had appeared Loki had been thrown and smashed to a pulp. We all stood over him, I was behind Barton who aimed an arrow into the eye of Loki. The sun beat down on him. We all circled him and he seemed like the little child now. He eyed each and every one of us. I flared my nostrils and gave him my best evil eye and poker face possible.

'If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now' with everything that he had done, he didn't even deserve that. Hulk growled and that I think expressed everyone's feelings. Finally it was over.
