Nasa park kami, nakasandal sa puno… This is our place even before all the tragedies that happened to us…
“Pero, bakit nung pag gising ko… Wala ka sa paligid? Bakit ngayon ka lang nagpakita?” I ask her confusedly…
She smiled bitterly, and started telling her story…
“I got sick…” nagsisimula nanaman magunahan sa pagtulo ang mga luha niya…
“I mean, I am sick…” Her voice cracked…
Hindi ko alam ang sasabihin kaya tahimik lang ako…
“I have Leukaemia…” At tuluyan na siyang umiyak…
Napatulala ako… At pati na rin ako napaiyak…
“Kaya kailangan ko umalis ng bansa to be treated…” She said between her sobs…
“Nung nabalitaan ko na nagising ka na, sobra akong natuwa… But then… they told me that you can’t remember a thing. So I asked them a favour, na sana wag nilang sabihin ang tungkol sa’kin. Because my condition that time was getting worse…And ayaw ko na mamroblema ka sakin, na hindi mo naman matandaan.” And she continued… I hugged her more tightly…
“And nung medyo naging okay na ako… Umuwi agad ako dito sa Pilipinas para makita kang muli… Kahit na alam kong, panandalian lang ‘tong sitwasyon natin…”
“What do you mean?” I asked, still tears rolling down my cheeks. And I felt like my heart stopped beating…
“Kahit medyo okay na ako, it doesn’t mean that I’m totally okay. I’m still in between life and death. I’m getting weak each day, each hour, every minute and every second. Arc, I’m still dying…” Umiyak na siya ng umiyak, puro hagulgol na lang naririnig ko sa kanya…
Pati ako umiiyak na rin…
She’s still dying…
Ang sakit…
