Chapter 13: Date

later that night at the carnival we went to get some icecream. It was so windy that night that my ice cream fell on the floor. It was depressing. Ethan had to get a picture of me and my ice cream on the floor. So he did then he posted it on snapchat.

"Is this a date?" Ethan asked with his hands in his pockets. By this time we were walking back to my truck and it was 10 pm.

"I don't know depends." I said with my arms hugging my self because it was chilly. He looked over at me.

"Are you cold?" He asked.

"Um n-.." He interrupted me by giving me his jacket.

"No need to thank me." He said grinning.

"Thanks." I huffed. Honestly the smell of his jacket was the best smell ever. My new favorite scent.

"So about my question.." He said in more of a question.

"If you want." I said trying to hide my blush.

"Okay." I could see him smiling.

We got back to my house now. He pulled my truck up into the drive way. I reached for the door handle but I got interrupted.

"Emma!!!" He screamed.

"What??" I said concerned.

"Don't you dare touch that door handle." He said getting out of the truck and opening my door.

"Omg Ethan your so cheesy." I got out and he walked me up to my door. We stood facing each-other in front of my door step. I gave him a huge hug and didn't let go until like 7 seconds. Then I walked in the door. "Oh wait Ethan I need to give you a ride home." I said.

"Oh I'll walk. I have some stuff on my mind."

"Oh okay. Want me to come?" I asked.

"As much as I enjoy our walks I'll take this one alone." He said.

"Okay." Then I shut the door. I went upstairs into my room and checked on my brother. He was sound asleep. And my mom wasn't home from school yet. Her schedule is all messed up.  I realized I still had Ethan's jacket on. I'll give it to him tmro. I'll text him right now and tell him.

I realized that I didn't have Ethan's number in my phone yet. I could probably just ask carter. Oh. Carter. I totally forgot about him. But I did have 5 missed messages from him.

Hey Emma.

Emma?

You there?

Are you kidding me? So your "plans" we're with Ethan Dallas? I saw on his snapchat.

Thanks Emma.

Crap. I still liked carter. Like I still had feelings for him and everything. But I also have feelings for Ethan. But I just met him yesterday. I feel like I've known him forever tho.

Hey sorry just got back!  I texted Carter. 

So how was your date?

Um?

Your date with Ethan?

I wouldn't consider it a date.

Ethan sure does.

Um why would you think that?

He's telling me to stay away from you. And then on snap chat he posted a picture of you in his jacket saying "I had a great date with her".

Oh.

Oh? That's all you have to say?

I guess so.

Okay Emma. I'll see you tomorrow.

Bye.

Oh geez. I felt so bad. Then I took a shower and fell asleep. In the morning I took my truck to school. When I got there I saw carter walking into school. I caught up with him.

"Hey Carter." I said.

"Hey." He snapped.

"You alright?" I asked.

"No Emma I'm not." He looked straight ahead never making eye contact.

"Oh. Why." I said.

"I'm upset that you guys went on a date." He said.

"Why? It's not like we were dating." I snapped back.

"Okay whatever Emma." He sped up like he was going to walk away.

"No Carter please don't be mad." He walked away. And of course I started to cry.
