LANDON’S POV

I sighed. We spent our day running around and interrogating everyone we ran into. In the end we didn’t get any new leads to finding the girls. I had called Detective Andrews to see what he was doing about the missing girls but he never answered his phone. Hopefully he was busy with the case.

I had the urge to walk into the restaurant that John decided to check out while I waited in the car. We figured we could interrogate more people if we went to separate places. I was starting to regret that decision because he was taking way too long in there. We needed to get going if we wanted to check out other places. So far a few people had lead us in a certain direction.

I didn’t like how the direction was leading us more and more out of town. It made me wonder if he was hiding somewhere in the woods near town. The police wouldn’t think to look there because they haven’t had any clues that would lead them there. This guy has probably done this long enough to get good at hiding his tracks.

My thoughts were interrupted when I noticed a frantic John run out of the restaurant and towards my car. I quickly unlocked the passenger door before he was close to the car. He was in a hurry which means he was told something that could lead us to the girls. I started the car as soon as he slipped into the passenger seat.

“Let’s go.”

“Where are we going exactly?”

“According to the delivery guy, we need to get on the freeway.”

I didn’t say anything as we left the parking lot and headed for the nearest freeway. If we took the freeway that was nearby then we would be leaving town because it lead us to the next major city. We might even pass the state line. I didn’t like the thought of the girls being taken to the woods. If you didn’t know the area well then you would be lost in the woods for hours.

“Can you go any faster?!” John yelled.

“I’m going as fast as I can! Stop yelling at me man!” I yelled back, as I merged with the traffic on the freeway.

“Sorry for the yelling. I just don’t want to waste any more time,” he explained.

“What did they tell you at the restaurant?” I asked as I glanced at him.

“The delivery guy told me that there was a man that paid him in advance and gave him a specific time to deliver food he orders. He never found it suspicious because many of their customers pay in advance for future deliveries. He gave me directions to his place when I told him that I was an old friend looking for him.” He explained.

“Now why would we want to bother this guy?” I asked again.

“Because the delivery guy said he was new in town. Didn’t you say you got a new student teacher or something and they were from another state?”

I suddenly stepped on the breaks, causing the car behind me to quickly move to the other lane and honk at me. When I realized I had suddenly stopped in the far right lane of the freeway, I moved out of the way. Everything suddenly made sense now. I always found that guy a bit creepy. It’s no wonder he found out how to contact her because he had access to her information.

“You okay Landon?” John asked, as he waved a hand in front of my face.

“What? Yeah I’m fine. Let’s go visit this guy.” I answered, as I slowly made my way back onto the freeway.
