XVI - The Lie of Life

We were born out of fear – Our life is a lie,

Our fear was born out of life – Yet life's greatest lie remains hidden.

What's that in the corner?

Death disguised within life as torment.

You mean that?

Fatally draining the touch of love.

Why is it staring at me?

Caught in the illusion of happiness.

Maybe it's looking through you.

I am what you made but never knew.

Something's wrong.

Arbitrary moments of dismay taunting our souls.

Why must you believe?

Looking beyond our lives for something more.

I think it's haunted.

Losing the path, falling from the tightrope -

By it's past.

Silent screams trapped within our tears.

Can you see past it's form?

A wretch, a monster ...

It's crying.

... we are your creation ...

It's bleeding out it's soul.

... we are you.

Wandering what it's all for?

The fatal moment of realisation.

Who: It or life?

Nothing left to live for; No love in living.

They are the same.

We found the path – But it ended.

We balanced on the tightrope – But it snapped.
