We arrived at Arthur's house in 15 minutes flat. I got the bags that had our dinner for the night from the backseat and rushed inside. I didn't really wanna talk to Arthur right now or maybe ever. I just wanted to be left alone forever. I went to the kitchen and got my food and hurried into my room.
Arthur walked into the house after having a brief conversation with Detective Jack about the run abouts of the house and the neighborhood. When he got inside he saw Eve wasn't anywhere to be found which he kinda figures after that episode. He wants to talk to her but he wants her to come to him. He knows that probably wouldn't happen but it wouldn't hurt to wait. He got his dinner and moved his way to the living room and ate his dinner alone.
Upstairs Eve can hear Arthur having small talk with his dog which she couldn't help but smile. Arthur did always seem to put a smile on her face she thought to herself. As much as she pushed Arthur away he was always right there behind her when she needed someone. Whether it was Tati, Corbin, or Travis, Eve always seem to go to Arthur. She never said much to him about what was going on but she felt like he knew enough to understand. Eve climbed out of bed and went downstairs just to throw away her garbage and come back to her room and hide.
She tried her best to be quiet but it obviously wasn't in her favor when she ended up hitting her pinky toe against something causing her to shriek.
"Eve is that you? Are you okay"?
"Yeah.. Yeah I am. I just hit my pinky toe".
Eve limp to the couch where Arthur was seating. He looked at her and she smiled at him. He moved over and took her foot and looked at her toe.
"It's not broken at least" he said chuckling to himself.
"Thanks Dr. Obvious" Eve said with a straight face.
"You know just doing my job" he said winking at her.
She looked down in her lap while fidgeting with her fingers. She didn't know what do because it was quiet and awkward. She moved her foot from his lap and looked away.
"So would you like to tell me what happened" he said hoping she would answer him.
Eve didn't know how to tell him without breaking down in front of me.
"I-I can't tell you Arthur" she said defended.
"You were running with tears in your eyes obviously something was wrong and it's something's been wrong from the day I met you".
"I can't tell you Art" she said her voice cracking trying to hold back tears.
"Why not Eve" he said feeling hurt.
"Because I'm scared Arthur, I'm scared for my life and especially yours".
"Why? I should be scared for you because I don't know what's wrong you've been crying; having nightmares about God knows what and today you had a panic attack. I honestly want to help you. It hurts me to see you crying and I can't do anything about it".
"No you just feel pity for me and I don't want your pity. You just shake ya head down at me because you see a naive young black lady who cries herself to sleep and can't trust a male. You feel bad because I can't protect myself and that I use your best friend and his men to help protect me".
"No that's not the case at" Arthur said raising his voice at her. Eve backed down afraid argue would strike her.
"Eve look at me".
Eve did just that and slowly turned her face looking at Arthur.
Arthur ran his fingers through his hair thinking about what he was gonna say.
"Eve I care about you and it's not pity not one bit. I want to help you, protect you against whomever. I don't want it to just be Travis and his men I also want it to be me. But I can't do that if you don't trust me. I want you to trust me and not be afraid to come to me".
Eve looked into Arthur's eyes, the once forest green eyes were now a lighter shade of green. From his voice he was more than certain that he meant what he said. He wanted to be there for Eve no matter what or why.
"Arthur my ex boyfriend is after me. He wants to take me away and try no will kill me and will kill anyone else that tries to stop him".
Arthur frowned at what Eve just confessed.
"Was he there at the club that night"?
"Yes but I don't know how he knew I was there".
"That night you stayed with me and you screamed were you having a nightmare about him".
Eve just nodded as tears started falling down her checks, thinking back to the nightmare and how she saw Tati in a puddle of blood.
"Eve come. Why are you crying sweetheart" he said with a hoarse voice.
"In all my nightmares I had someone close to me dead. The other night was Tati and the night before it was".
"Who was it Eve".
"It was you Art. It was you lying there face down and blood was around you". Eve buried her face in the crook of his neck crying.
"It was bad enough that I lost my parents and I could lose my best friend and my new friend."
Arthur smiled sheepishly after hearing the last part.
"You won't lose Tati and you definitely won't lose me okay Eve".
"Okay Arthur" she said then lounged at him crying into his chest. Arthur spent the next 10 minutes whispering in Eve's ear trying to soothe her cries. Finally she was able to settle down not knowing what to do Eve just stayed in Arthur's arms. She honestly felt comfort and safe and that he really did mean what he said he does care about her. There wasn't an ounce of pity coming from him.
I know short but it's part I of the chapter I am currently working on the secon part as you read this lol but what do you like it so far don't forget to comment and vote thanks :)
