Summary: You're in high school and Thomas has been your crush for the longest time. He's your best friend, but you know that it's just unrequited love.
A/N: There's little to no dialogue in this imagine. Sooo I'm trying something a little different today. Hope you like it :)
She saw him everyday. Everyday at school they always talked, then when they went home and their separate ways, they always found their way back to one another and texted until late hours.
Many smiley and winky faces were exchanged in their small texts. She didn't know if it was flirting or if it was just to express some sort of emotion through his words whenever he sent a winky face. To her, it meant something. It always meant something. Every text she got from him made her heart flutter, and every conversation they had made butterflies appear in her stomach. Her heart always felt full whenever they talked. Then afterwards, when their conversations and exchanges were done, she always daydreamed back to their last interaction.
For the longest time y/n had a crush on him. And for the longest time, Thomas never knew about it. Thomas still doesn't know to this day. Although y/n has done more to try to get his attention and to express her love for him. But he just doesn't get it.
Oh, how y/n longed for the day that Thomas realized her true feelings for him. She didn't want to just be friends, she wanted to be more.
But it was always the same everyday. They text during first period, high five in the hallways before second period, talk and be together before third period, get back together at sixth period, talk a bit more after school and before heading home, then going home and talking some more.
How Thomas did not know of y/n's feelings for him baffled y/n.
But then again, not a lot of people knew about the way she felt. To her friends, Thomas was nothing other than her best friend. To her brother and parents, he was just a friend. But to her close cousin, he was the one.
"Hey beautiful :)," he would text her at the beginning of the conversation. To which she would reply with a heart fluttering, "Hi :)"
Then off they went with the usual, "How was your day?" and after that their conversation took off.
Some nights y/n got lucky with their conversation. And by that, maybe they stayed up later than usual just get in a few more words to each other. Or maybe she would go to sleep with no reply only to wake up to see a reply that contained a smiley face. Early morning replies always made her day.
Little inside jokes were known between only the two of them. The inside jokes were brought up in conversations between friends, but only they knew of the true meaning behind it.
Whenever Thomas was down, y/n was always there to comfort him. Whenever y/n was down, Thomas was always there to comfort her.
Thomas was there to make her happy whenever she felt mad, sad or was generally having a bad day.
Y/n was always there to make him feel better whenever he was feeling frustrated or annoyed.
Thomas never got sad. The only time he got sad was when a girl was involved. Y/n was there for him at the times he was sad.
You see, Y/n always tried her best with Thomas. But she always wondered if she tried a little too much.
Everyday before leaving, y/n would give a hug to Thomas. Thomas' hugs were lovely; he was a warm teddy bear. Whenever she hugged him, she would have to stand on the tips of her toes to reach up and wrap her arms around his neck. He was only a few inches taller than her. And for him? He'd have to bend down to be able to reach her. Then they would both lean into to one another and hold on. It was perfect harmony. Thomas would then tighten the hug slightly before he let go.
Thomas never knew of the effect he had on y/n. With every wink he sent her way, every bright smile he shined at her, every little discreet gesture he made her way; it all had a secret place in her heart that y/n constantly thought about.
There was a day y/n dreaded quite a lot. It would be the day when Thomas would leave to go off to college, and the day that y/n would be stuck behind to finish high school.
The age difference was a pain in the ass and probably the only thing that was keeping them from maybe being together.
She knew that Thomas could go off and find a girl to be with, Y/n was fully aware of that, and that's what scared her the most. The day that Thomas would leave to go to college is the day that Y/n feels as if it'll all go downhill. Would he wait for her if she told him about how felt? Or would she just keep her emotions inside, never tell him, and just let him go to where she would most likely drift from his mind and be forgotten.
Y/n hated not knowing. She hated not knowing the future, or how Thomas truly felt, or how she wondered if she ever bothered Thomas too much but he never said a word because he was too nice to say a thing.
She felt like she was the only one to feel this way. Did he even feel anything? Do all the hugs, conversations, inside jokes and everything mean nothing to him and are actually just casual every day things? To her it meant everything. Every little interaction, every word spoken, everything. Or was she over thinking things? She constantly hoped that he felt something. Everyday she hoped that he thought about her as much as she thought about him. But she knew that, that wasn't the case. And that's what broke her heart the most.
Yet Y/n still clung to a small piece of hope in which there was a slim chance that maybe he did think about her. Maybe Thomas did feel the same way she did, maybe Thomas was waiting for her to finish high school so they could be together. Maybe Thomas was actually flirting with sending a winky face in his texts, maybe her hugs meant a great deal to him the same way it meant to her.
Oh, hopefully, maybe he felt at least something?
A/N: Alllrighty, that's it. :) This imagine was based off of my actual feelings toward this guy (aka my best friend/my brother's best friend lmao that sucks).
