*Your P.O.V.*

I walked with Stan to the principal's office where I received my schedule. Stan offered to show me to my class, and the principal was happy to let him. On our way to our first class, I got to meet some of Stan's friends: Kyle, Eric, and Kenny. After introducing ourselves, we went to the classroom with only a few minutes before the bell went off. Then, the teacher soon came in to take attendance.

The teacher sat at her desk and started to rattle off names until she came to mine.

"Oh, yes, that's right...we have a new student, miss (Y/N)," the teacher announced motioning to me.

Everyone turned in their desk to look at me, and in return, I gave them all an awkward smile and even more pathetic wave. Everyone murmured to themselves or the person next to them, obviously annoying the teacher.

"Now, now, calm down. It's just a new person. Let's continue," the teacher scolded. She continued to read off name, which everyone responded with a 'here', until she landed on Pete's name. "Pete?"

There was no answer.

"I'm assuming he's not here," she muttered to herself.

"But I saw him this morning," I whispered to Stan.

"He and the rest of the Goth's skip class to smoke cigarettes outside while complaining about how pointless life is," Kyle butted in.

"Oh," I nodded, sitting back into my seat.

Was Pete really that miserable? Why could cause him to be?

The more I heard about him the more curious I could feel myself become, but I had to keep reminding myself what Stan had said. He had a fair point. He was a bit of an outcast, and I was about to join all the sports teams. Stan was probably right.

*Pete's P.O.V.*

It was just past the first bell, and Henrietta was currently reading some of her poetry, but I wasn't listening much. My mind was still spinning from that stupid girl.

What was it about her? She was obviously a conformist- from the hair to the clothes to the stupid way that she laughed- but I couldn't help but feel intrigued by her. Maybe I could convince her to become a Goth. Then, Michael would have to let her in. He couldn't turn down someone like us. He'd still never let me have feelings for her, but I could at least get closer to her until-

"Hello," a specifically annoying voice greeted.

Mike...

"What do you want?" Michael asked, obviously annoyed.

"As you know, there is another rise of the emos coming again. I've come to ask you to join us. We'll be stronger with our number," Mike explained.

"We can handle ourselves," Michael snarled.

"Suit yourself," Mike shrugged. "But we are going to continue to grow, with or without you. This is just my friendly offer to save you. I remember all too well what happened to one of your kind that last time the emos came."

Mike shot Henrietta a knowing look, but she was quick to respond, "My brain was taken over by a plant."

Michael quickly gave Mike a glare that said, 'shut up or die'.

Even after all these years, Michael had protected Henrietta from the truth. He liked her. I knew that, but he'd never admit it. Conformist fell in love, and he'd never be a conformist.

"Try to get that Marsh kid back on your side. I think we're going to try to get the new girl before the emos get her," Mike suggested.

"I don't think you'll get her to join you," Firkle commented.

"Oh, and why is that?" Mike asked, narrowing his eyes.

"She's already conformed with the jocks," Firkle responded.

Mike let out a laugh. "As if that matters. In a few days, this school with be filled with conformists who turned into emos. It is prime time to convert someone."

"I feel like she still wouldn't join you," I stated. "She was with Marsh earlier. If anything, she would join us."

"If she's ever seen Twilight, she'd know to pick us, so just let us have her," Mike barked.

"No," I snarled.

"Once the emos—"

"We don't need your help, and stay away from the new girl, you wanna be conformist," I spat.

I could feel Michael's eyes digging into me.

I let out a sigh. "She doesn't need to be involved in this. No one does."

"I'll do what benefits us most," Mike hissed before running off.

"Pete," Michael instantly scolded me.

"I know, I know," I quickly said, to get him off the topic. I didn't want the others to know about my situation.

Suddenly, the principal came barging through the back doors. "Get to the gym right now. It's time for the assembly."

I sighed and put my cigarette out, and then, I followed after Michael as we all shuffled into the school.
