~Time Skip~

*Your P.O.V.*

It had been a week since I had last talked to Pete in the hospital. I assumed that his mind was pretty made up when I didn't hear from him again. He was about to go back to his life, disappearing in the crowd, while I spent mine with the boys and on the court. I couldn't help but feel foolish about the whole thing.

It was a Thursday, and my first game of the season. I had to sit out last week because of the accident, but I was feeling much better and ready to let everything go.

I jumped in the air, aligning myself and the ball at the plain of the net, hitting the ball to the ground. However, it ended up rolling under the bleacher, making me have to chase after it.

"(Y/N)..." a voice spoke from in the darkness of the bleachers.

I instantly jumped back, focusing more to the shadows, "y-yeah?"

Pete soon came walking out into the light.

"It's just me," he spoke, calmly.

"Don't scare me like that," I said, after letting out a sigh in relief. "What are you doing here?"

"You really thought I miss your first game?" He questioned.

"But I thought—"

"Don't think about any of it," he interrupted me. "I was dumb, and I'm done letting Michael control my happiness. I think about you all the time. I only write about you. I want you, (Y/N) ...I have these overwhelming feelings for you, and I know how hard those feeling are to come by. I think you're the one thing that will make this world just a little less shitty."

I couldn't help but stare there in awe, my eyes locking with his.

This boy has driven me crazy since the moment I met him. I finally have the opportunity for it to just be us.

A smile formed on my face, and I couldn't help but fall into his embrace. Pete took this as a go and cupped my cheek in his large hand. He leaned down until the space between out lips had connected. For once, he didn't taste like cigarettes but coffer this time. I held onto the kiss for as long as I could; it felt like time had stopped between us. That was until he pulled away.

"Pete...what about Michael?" I asked, scared to hear his answer.

"Fuck Michael," he commented, pulling me back into his chest.

I couldn't help but giggle, "But Pete...why did you change your mind?"

"Henrietta and I had a little chat," he responded.

"She knows?" I asked.

He only nodded in response.

"So do Stan and Kyle," I replied.

"Well, it looks like the five of us have a secret," Pete shrugged.

"It might be early...but I don't care. Pete, I really think I'm in love with you."

"You're not so bad for a conformist," he mumbled in response.

I knew that he was playing it off, but that was okay. I knew he loved me. There was no way he'd be here right not if he didn't.

"Well, I have a game to play," I told him, looking back to the court.

"And I have one to watch," he replied.

"Don't worry, we can talk about how pointless it was after it is over," I promised.

As soon as I turned back to the court, I could have sworn I saw a smile. I then went back to warm up and played the best game in my life, and I knew it was because of him.
