When we appeared on the other side of the sigil, I'd seriously wished that someone had came here before, and warned us of its structure, maybe then I'd be too freaked out to come here. Looking around, I realised 'the pit' is similar to the one in the game, except that instead of a cave-like structure by the river, this one was simply floating on the air.
Peering over the edge of the pit, I realised that if either me or Rylai fell over, we'd certainly be dead. Although the theory of only being able to die in our own worlds is slightly comforting, I got a feeling that the term 'edge of worlds' could easily be applied to the pit.
Recalling how something was supposed to cease at the edge of worlds, I get a really bad feeling about this place. The strange thing was, Roshan seemed nowhere to be found, including Nerif and Rubick. Fearing we might be too late, I hurried forward to the deeper end of the pit, together with Rylai.
As we raced along, I could feel a new sensation inside of me. With Rylai beside me, nothing seemed impossible and I realised deep within me, something was stirring inside my blood. However, whether it was the power of Oracle's blood, or whether its just the feeling of wanting to protect Rylai, I couldn't be sure.
Judging from the distance, we'd ran about halfway into the pit. Although in the game the pit seemed small, the actual one was way bigger, I realised. If this is the case, then I'm really afraid of what we would find at the very end of the pit.
Suddenly from nowhere, I felt a strong bolt of lightning strike me, then jump over to Rylai. Blasting both of us onto the ground, Rubick stepped into view, slamming his staff onto the ground.
"You people, you never listen, do you!? Worse still, you brought an ice mage with you, why can't you understand just how bad things are already?" Rubick said, sounding seriously exasperated.
Struggling to my feet, I drew Eldwurm, determined to cut Rubick right where he stood, "At least I'm not a coward who sides with the bad guy just because something worse will happen if he fails. I think even you know how twisted that sounds!"
Rubick's expression seemed to change, though I couldn't tell for sure because of the mask.
"Well then you leave me no choice." He said, voice dripping with malice.
Before I could charge him, Rylai rose, throwing powerful ice spells right at Rubick. This battle was intense, and highly confusing. Although the spells Rylai casted on Rubick should have evaporated him right on the spot, he seemed to take it rather well, as if he had some magic resistance or something.
Furthermore, while Rylai threw her spells, he seemed to be stealing them somehow with his staff. Green glows of light could be seen draining from Rylai into the staff. After the staff absorbed it, Rubick started casting spells exactly the same as Rylai's. Now I realised exactly why Invoker was so nervous about him, and how come neither him nor the Ice Wizard were willing to come with me into the pit.
If Rubick could steal spells from Rylai so easily, spells that took so long for her to master, even with her nature, imagine how much more powerful Rubick could be if he could steal spells from someone as strong as Invoker.
As the fight dragged on, both me and Rylai were severely battered by her very own spells. Finally, in an effort to turn the tides of battle, Rylai stopped fighting and her expression changed.
I knew what was about to happen the moment I saw her staff glow, and shouted, "No Rylai! Don't do it!"
Rylai completely ignore me, raising her staff in the air as she slowly rose above the ground. Just as the clouds above us started turning into snowy storms, Rubick smiled, this time clearly visible. Before the first shards of ice could fall, however, Rylai was suddenly lifted into the air, just as the green glow appeared yet again.
