Months went by and I eventually found I was able to move around. The shadowery figure seemed to appear quite frequently but for my eyes only. No one else seemed to be aware of its presence.
I knew it was drawing near my time as I could smell the fear that was brewing between Valicolt, Luna, Xemnaia, Sparky and Pix. Also I got noticed a lot more, everyone wanted to spend that little bit longer with me.
Valicolt had mastered me in battle although either way I was going to die.
Luna, Valicolt and I now all looked like proper hybrids. Hair now was every inch of our bodies, we also had wolf tails and ears to match. Xemnaia found me extremely cute as I also became more playful like a pup.
The princess spoiled me at dinner. She made sure the servants gave me the best hunks of meat and that my plat was never empty.
As for Luna not being my true sister I now accepted it as Valicolt was her true flesh and blood so he what was best for her. I had done all I could.
After dinner one night Xemnaia rushed me back to our bed chamber. She was sexy but I could still feel her anxiety. She grabbed me by the arm and like a rabid dog began striping and tearing off my cloths...which in this case was just jeans and a t-shirt...I didn't bother with socks or boots.
Her kiss wasn't exactly pleasant. It was desbrate and needy...the kind of kiss you give when it's a goodbye. It worried me. She didn't seem to care her sharp, manicured nails were digging into my neck and drawing blood she was hooked to me so much she took not the slightest bit of notice.
I edged us toward the bed and eventually managed to strip her as well. Although I had enjoyed our little WHOOP WHOOP moment before, now it felt like I was enslaved and forced to kiss a prostitute.
I'm not sure if Xemnaia read my mind as she stopped and released me from her iron grasp.
"I'm sorry." she said closing her eyes painfully.
She then turned on her side blocking her face from veiw."Xemnaia are you alright my love?"
"I'm fine." her voice cracked instantly giving her away.
"Talk to me." I said pulling some of her red hair behind her ear."There's nothing to say."
I thought for a moment then began to gentelly sing Luna's old lulliby. The bitter cold tries to take,
What little breath we have,
Just take my hand little princess and I'll take you to a new land,
The foes can't hurt us as long as we stand tall,
But just remember this,
No matter where we are,
I'll be with you forever more,Xemnaia turned back to face me, her cheeks smeered with tear traces. I soother her rubbing her hair.
"I know you're scared, but this is what is best for the kingdom. Not to mention this isn't good bye. I'll see you again."She then reached up to place her hand over mine. "I love you Blaze." she sobbed.
"And I love you Xemnaia. But as princess you know the kingdom comes before me." I said serisouly. The princess didn't answer though she merely got out of bed, dressed in an untorn dress fixed her head and exited the bed chamber. I called after her but she didn't even turn.
I laid in bed for a couple of hours and Xemnaia did not return. I was then aware of some boisterous noise downstairs. Hearing destress I threw on a clean black t-shirt and slacks before running down to the throne room. Lot of people were shouting then I realised at whom the were shouting at...the princess.
I opened the door as quietly as I could but he heads turned at my presence.
"There he is now!" someone yelled.
Everyone, apart from my friends began shooting me the worse words under the moon.Xemnaia stood at the front of the large stone room looking tied and as composed as she possibly could.
"What is going on!!!" I yelled so loud the whole room fell silent. My acute hearing allowed me to hear Xemnaia sigh as she stepped forward to say a speech.
"He is apart of our community, therefore it is wrong to have to sacrifice him. He is a piece of all of us, either way he has a heart, and any being with a heart deserves the chance to live. He has looked after a sibling of what he thought was his own for many years and she has never come to any harm. Blaze is a protector...but he shouldn't be sacrificed because of someone stupid mistake." she explained calmly.
Someone from the crowd who looked like another Strigoi growled. "You say every being with a heart deserves the chance to live, well if he lives we all die so either way...he can't escape that destiny."
"Then let us value what little time we have together. Because Blaze isn't going to be the sacrifice."
I exhauled loudly as I watch the princess turn to exit."Wait Princess stop you can't do this!" I bellowed. Xemnaia half turned. I then began to advance toward her. "These people make up this kingdom, they have families and lives of their own, children...the future generation for Crinantá and if I'm not their sacrifice, their savouir everything that they have worked so hard for everything you have done for this kingdom will have been in vain only to watch it crumble because of me. I was someones mistake...but I don't want to be yours. Don't let your love for me Xemnaia blind you into not doing what is right...because I'm going to be these people's sacrifice. I told you I'll live on in everyone who knew me. My heart beats within all of you. I know what I am now...and I know this is the only way."
Everyone was silent you could hear a pin drop. That's when the unexpected happened. Xemnaia the princess who's known for her stubbornness and stone will broke. She crouched down on the floor and began crying like a little child. And when the guards tried to escort her out she pushed them away.
It broke my heart to see it...but I knew my mind was made up.
