Rikkard was tired.

But, to him it was worth it to spend the day with his firstborn. Baby Nathan was sleeping soundly in his arms, as his wife, Lillian, was somewhere in the city -he wasn't concerned since Karim was surprisingly happy to look after the wild ifrit. Nathan knew she deserved the break, knowing how she awoke and left his side to stay by their son's side when he decided to unleash his whining of a puppy when the sun is not yet seen. Lillian -being the stubborn woman she is- didn't let him stand and help and pushed (and once, punched him, twice, slapped him) to sleep.

If Rikkard was to be honest, he had never been more grateful for sleep his entire life.

So, he wanted to make this up for his wife, seeing how tired she was all the time. But, he noticed how the light in her eyes never died. He loves that about her -he spent five minutes staring at his wife when he comes home. He enjoyed how Lillian was so invested with loving their son -it made him want to smile.

So, here he was, trying to put his baby into his crib without waking up the lad. The baby has gotten his character of being a light sleeper from him -and he didn't know if it was good, or bad. And he found his answer as soon as his arms were departed from Nathan, the lad cried his lungs off. Rikkard quickly reached for the baby. He turned around to see that he misplaced the baby bottle again, and could not find it. He carried the baby through their living room and kitchen, looking for the lost bottle as he tried to calm his son down, at the same time. Rikkard was growing tired as the baby had finally calmed down, and slept once again. He was about to put the baby down again, but something caught his eye.

And there it was in all its glory, the baby bottle.

And it was just in the bedside table by the crib.

Rikkard sighed to himself but let his anger flicker out as he focused in the face of his son. He got his mother's eyes, and he was proud to say that he looked like his dad. But, his eyes. Those eyes were the same eyes that he woke up to, the same eyes that cried and laughed at him and with him in a good fraction of his life. And then, there were two of the same eyes that were going to share moments with him for the rest of his life.

But, then, those eyes suddenly opened and gave him something more to look at, and admire. To his surprise, his son tilted his head and laughed at him as he poked his nose and eyes. Rikkard chuckled at the baby, and thrown him into the air, as a poor attempt to make him laugh louder.

Unfortunately, it only made him cry.

Rikkard patted his back, and tried to offer Nathan his bottle, but he refused to calm down.

"Bloody hell." he mumbled to himself, as he rocked his son in his arms.

Rikkard was freaking out, but thankfully, Lillian burst through the door, and closed it as she hurriedly put her bags in the couch as she fussed over their baby and took him from Rikkard's arms, and shushed him. As Nathan started to calm down, Rikkard was feeling bad of himself. To think that he couldn't get his own son to calm down under his touch, was something he couldn't bear thinking.

But, Lillian noticed this, and said, "Oh, Rikk. It's not like that. He loves you."

Rikkard smiled softly and Lillian smiled back, as she encouraged Rikkard to take Nathan into his arms again. He shook his head, afraid to make the baby cry again, but Lillian smiled at him. The bloody smile who made him do things that he never thought he would do -like smiling. He sighed to himself, and took Nathan, carefully.

Rikkard was washed over with a wave of relief as the baby laughed again in his arms, poking into his face. Rikkard nuzzled his nose with his own, as Baby Nathan laughed again. Lillian laughed and kissed Nathan's cheek before kissing Rikkard in his lips.

"Why are you home early, anyways? I thought you'd be home by dinner, after your stroll to the town."

"Let's just say it was women's intuition that my boys needed me home."

Rikkard scoffed. "I'm not a boy." Lillian chuckled, and kissed him, slowly. He savored these kind of kisses -it made him feel grateful for his own existence, and how much he should treasure every second. It made him feel alive.

"Of course, you're not. You're my Rikkard Ambrose. The manliest man out of all." Lillian rolled her eyes, as RIkkard held her waist, as he secured Nathan with his other arm.

"You know, I think Nathan would be lonely here at home, when he grows up. Don't you think he needs a sister? Or a brother?" Rikkard purred into his ear, and he grinned to himself internally, as he felt Lillian's shiver.

"Rikkard! Nathan's only ten months old!" Lillian exclaimed.

"So?" Rikkard shrugged, Lillian shook her head at him, but kissed him anyways.
Their kiss was a passionate one, the kind of kisses that were reasons for Nathan's existence.

"Now, now, my love. We wouldn't want to be too eager, now do we? Nathan is right here. We wouldn't want to scar him before he is even a year old." Rikkard said, as Lillian playfully slapped his chest, and laughed with him.

"Bastard." she hissed, and Rikkard kissed those lips that he never got tired of.

"What did you buy anyway?"

Lillian's grin grew and Rikkard became nervous, as Lillian gushed about how she had fun with buying these, as she took the bag and showed its contents to Rikkard. Rikkard shook his head, "Again, Lillian? You just bought a whole pack of solid chocolate a week ago!"

"Well... Nathan helped me eating them." his wife said sheepishly, as she smiled at him, giving him her best puppy eyes.

Rikkard shook his head at his wife and son.

And knew that he was the luckiest man in the world for as long as they were in his life.
