I rubbed my temple as I read over the file about the factory's success and process, as I would sneak glances of the still-sick woman laying in my couch, quietly sleeping in my couch. I sighed, and decided to take a rest of my work, as I felt my neck scream out pain as I stretched it when I stood to look at the window.
I was more than surprised to see that it was already passed sundown, the city looks more dull than I even remember. But then again, I have started to see the streets with doubts of the false conceptions being sold in the streets –like how a woman dresses up like a man to prove a simple point that females can actually contribute to the society. I almost smiled at the thought of seeing how the-ever-so-flabbergasted Lily Linton have managed to prove me wrong in less than an hour of meeting her.
Now, do not misinterpret my thoughts as to the point of my being proved wrong that women can actually be very helpful to the society –which is filled of different kind of conniving men. A Lily Linton would give that man hell. As for me, I'm just simply saving a poor bloke of the bother and annoyance that is this woman.
I glanced over at the woman, and realized that she might be in a lot of trouble if she was to go home in this ungodly hour. I called over Karim who came over almost immediately as I ordered him to get the cab ready and nodded to Linton. He almost scowled at me, saying that I was going to have to torture him to actually get him to carry my ilfrit to the carriage.
"Well, no need to waste a very strong man then. I will carry her. Now, go."
He seemed happy with the arrangement and moved to get the cab. I took my cane and hat, as I moved to carry Linton –knowing that almost all of my employees should be at their own homes as of this moment, so it was safe to say that carrying your dimwitted male assistant to a carriage in public (How the newspaper would love to hear this, indeed,) was the least of my worries. Karim was already holding the door open for me, when I reached the first floor.
I am getting a bit worried of how light this lady is.
I was about to tell the man in front to go where I dropped off Mr. Linton, but then I would think it might be quite strange to see your niece go home in the arms of a man wearing men's clothing. I sighed, and told the driver to go to an open store that sells women's clothes. When we arrived, I happen to not know the arrangements dealt with women clothes so I had no choice but to hand my little ilfrit to the care of the woman behind the counter.
"Don't worry. I'll take care of her. Do you know what color she likes?" Good thing, she doesn't ask questions. I was about to send Karim over and just grab a dress and dress Linton myself.
"I only know that she rather loathes any dress that goes over the top with... lady-like designs." She nodded knowingly as I was forced to stand there, waiting for how many hours –it felt like hours. I thoroughly dislike waiting. They should have a thorough plan regarding to making the customers with less patience, be satisfied.
When the lady walked out, Lily was already on her feet, still looking in danger of falling unconscious. I wasn't even given the time to examine what I have wasted my money on since Lily decided to faint again, as I moved to catch her before she ends up not working for a month time. I paid the lady, as she eyed the troublesome maiden I have in my arms.
"Oh, dear. Is she going to be alright?"
"Yes, she just so happens to be tired from the trip we have." I said, looking at the girl, whose hair was now laid down. The lady was actually nice to bring Lily's clothes in a bag.
I heard her sigh, and said, "I remember how my husband looked at me like that after our wedding. Young love really beats everything, huh?"
"Indeed." I mumbled at the same time Lily mumbled, "I am nobody's husband.".
The lady chuckled at that, as I paid and moved the woman in the carriage. Somehow, Karim managed to remember her address, from the mission I sent him to, to dispose of any other... distractions that Linton's suitors may cause her to drift away from work. I don't pay her for being distracted. I looked over the girl beside me, who was snuggled up to my lap (probably thinking it was a pillow of some sorts), as I could almost feel her hot temperature against my skin, thinking how this woman wouldn't need to riot about society's rightful ways about disregarding women's capabilities -she just needs to be in the arms of one man, and I know that man doesn't like the idea of sharing such a marvelous creation. When the carriage stopped, I carried Lily again as I knocked at the door after making it clear to Karim that I could handle other ilfrits.
After tapping my foot in lack of patience, the door opened to reveal, indeed, another ilfrit –her aunt.

A Q & A! But, not with me or the borrowed characters.
Well, mostly I'm just gonna ask you questions.
Okayyy. You can just send your answers to my profile here and I'll post your answers tomorrow!
1.) What do you think of this story so far?
2.) Are you okay with the 1,000 word per chapter arrangement?
3.) What do you like about the author's way of story telling? Any suggestions on how to improve? Honest and freedom to speak is granted, no matter how harsh or negative it is.
4.) You are now given a privilege to ask the author two questions. The first being about the story or literature in general, the second being about the author.
Cheers!
