CHAPTER 12: ANNICA

I am watching my mom talking to Andrei's parents, yes kararating lang nila at hindi sila umabot sa mismong libing ng daddy ko, ilang beses kasing nadelayed and flight nila galing cebu, we've talk, his mom hugged me at kinumusta nila ako. I had to admit, it was awkward meeting them after what happened to Andrei and I.
I cant deny the fact na sobrang kaba ko nang makita ko silang papasok sa bahay kanina, my eyes are searching for him but he wasnt around.. should I be thankful na wala siya? I guess yes, kasi kahit ilang beses kung itanggi alam ko sa sarili ko na hinahanap hanap parin siya ng puso ko, walang araw na hindi ko pinagsisihan ang desisyon kung iwanan siya nun but maybe it was my pride that got in the way and when I was ready to reconcile with him, it was too late.. Lauren.

'Annica, aalis na sila' napalingon ako sa kanila, I walked towards them to bid goodbye.

'Tita, tito.. thank you for coming' I gladly said.

'Of course, at times like this tayo tayo lang naman ang magtutulongan eh. But it was so nice to see you Annica..' she said. I just smiled, hindi ko kasi alam kung ano ang ikikilos ko.

'Ahh Annica, Andrei and Lauren are extending their condolonces to you' the feeling of being unsure is written all over tito's face, as if he's not sure if it was right to tell it to me.

'Thank you tito. I hope to meet with them one of these days' damn great liar Annica.. I had to tell myself.

'Yeah sure, ill let them know' oh please don't tito..

It was heartbreaking hearing their names from Andrei's parent, how many times that I had to secretly calm my heart to refrain myself from crying while talking to them.

'Are you sure, you'll be fine?' Mom asked while she's busy packing her things, I booked her a ticket to Greece, she need to rest her mind after the passing of my dad, she's been enduring all the pain by herself.

'Mom, ill be fine. Saka andito naman sila Monique, I asked them to stay with me while I'm in the country'

'Glad to hear that' hinayaan ko muna si mommy na matulog, maaga ang flight niya bukas.
I went downstairs and head out, I brought a glass of champaigne with me while staring at literally nothing, I unknowingly travelled down the memory lane.

Flashback: 3 years ago

I am impatiently waiting for him while he's meeting with tito Lucas's staff. I know I shouldnt feel this way knowing what happened to his tito but he's making me wait for more than two hours now, my mga lakad din naman akong kinancel para lang makasama ko siya today, its been more than 2 weeks na halos hindi na kami nagkikita dahil sa kanya kanya naming priorities but here I am, starving myself while waiting for my lunch date.

'Fine!' I stubbornly stood up and took my sling, i am about to head out when the door opened, he's not looking well, mejo pale ang kulay niya at magulo ang buhok niya, he loosen his necktie and walk towards his table as if I wasnt there, he took some document at padabog na umupo sa swivel chair.

'Arent we having lunch today?' I asked but he remained quiet as if not hearing a thing at patuloy siya sa ginagawa niya. 'Andrei ano ba, i waited for you for more than two hours yet hindi mo naman pala ako kakausapin?'

'Not now babe.. not now' saglit niya lang akong tinitigan at binalik niya agad sa papeles ang paningin niya.

'What? Anong not now? Andrei, you planned this lunch not me kaya wag mong sasabihing not now, I am starving pero wala kang pakialam? What happened to you?' He paused, binitiwan niya ang ballpen at humarap sakin.

'What happened to me? Look around Annica, can you atleast be considerate, thats the least you can do, you know Ive been working on almost everything.. my company, tito's company.. ni wala na nga akong oras para sa sarili ko' naiinis niyang saad.
