Marcel's POV
*next week*
I woke up to my alarm clock and reached over to shut it off. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and put my glasses on using my index finger.
I yawned and gathered my clothes for today and dressed quickly. I smelt the aroma of eggs and beacon so I fixed my hair as fast as I could.
"Good morning mom," I said to my mom meeting her in the kitchen.
"Good morning," she replied and scraped the eggs onto a plate and placed a few beacon slices on the side.
She handed me it and as usual I ate gobbled up everything and went off to school.
I pulled up to the building and before I got out of my car, Steven walked passed not recognizing me thank goodness. I then slowly got out when he was out of sight and went to my English class.
Megan was sitting in her usual seat and she forced a smile at my appearance. Something was wrong.
Her hair was in a messy bun and she had her normal glasses on with a blue button up blouse.
"Hey," I said and placed my binder on my desk.
"Hey Marcel," she said and looked away from me.
"Megan, what's wrong?" I said placing my hand on her desk.
"Nothing," she said and stayed quiet. I didn't want to bother her, so I quit asking.
What if I did something wrong, no I didn't I don't think. Is she okay? Did someone hurt her? All these questions made me zone out to what was happening. I only knew her for a day, maybe she wasn't even my friend when I thought..
"Marcel?" Mr. Adamson called breaking my thoughts.
"Y-yes," I stuttered and sat upright in my position.
"Are you alright?" He asked and I looked over at Megan who stared at her book.
"Yes I'm fine," I said.
"Would you like to start of the chapter?" He suggested.
"Yes sir," I said and began to read the chapter. Finally I was done and another student read after me.
Before I knew it class was over, Megan quickly gathered her things and I hurried after her.
"Megan!" I called and she kept walking. I finally caught up with her and touched her shoulder.
"Megan, tell me what's wrong," I said and she rolled her eyes behind her thick glasses.
"Why would you care, we just had lunch together? Doesn't mean anything," she said harshly. Ouch.
I didn't say anything and she brushed a loose hair behind her ear, "Hey I'm sorry, I didn't mean that. I am just upset."
I nodded and started to walk away from her but she stepped in front of me. "Marcel, I'm sorry."
"It's okay," I said back. I thought we were kinda friends, guess not.
"No it's not," she said to me.
"I just don't really want to talk about it, okay?" She asked with worry in her eyes.
"Sure," I said and faked a smile walking away. This time she didn't follow me or anything.
I wondered what was going on? I didn't know Megan at all really, but I knew it was bad. She seems like a real fun person but something's bothering her and I want to know what it is.
I looked back behind me and she had vanished into a class. I then turned back around and met eyes with the boy from yesterday. He looked away quickly, having a girl hung around him.
He had soft brown eyes for a person to hang around with Steven. He might have meant his apology yesterday, but I'm not taking any chances. Everybody is just so weird around here, in this unusual school.
