As soon as night fell we headed for The Chantry. We walked in silence so no one would be suspicious. "I saw Karl go in a few minutes ago." Anders said once we reached the door to The Chantry "No Templars so far. Are you ready?" "I didn't see anyone suspicious out here." Hawk replied "Let's do this fast." "Alright. I'll Handle the talking. You watch for Templars." Anders ordered as we walked in "When we find Karl, just let me talk to him." We all walked over to the stairs in our usual formation, Hawk leading, Anders and Varric not far behind, and Fenris and I at the end side by side. Once we reached the top platform we saw a man with grey hair and dressed in Mage robes, with his back turned to us. "Anders, I know you too well." The man said in a monotonous voice "I knew you would never give up." "What's wrong! Why are you talking like-!" Anders said obviously distraught. "I was too rebellious. Like you." The man I've assumed to be Karl interrupted turning around showing a brand of a sun on his forehead "The Templars knew I had to be... made an example of." "No!" Anders replied immediately as I grabbed Fenris's hand out of fear for what has happened. I had played up to this far, yes, and I knew that he had been made Tranquil, but seeing it in person made it so much more real. This poor man had been stripped of his emotions! Who could do that to someone! "Are you alright?" I heard Fenris ask. "Yeah" I whispered back not focusing on the conversation between Anders and Karl anymore "It's just I have a bad feeling about this." He simply squeezed my hand in response. "As soon as the Templars teach you to control yourself." We heard Karl say as soon as we started listening again "This is the apostate." "No!" Anders bellowed as he began to do the creepy glowy thing, falling to the ground gripping his head only to stand back up quickly "You will never take another Mage as you did him!" I unsheathed my daggers getting back to back with Fenris. "Alight!" I whispered "Guess we found out what was giving me that bad feeling. That's one mystery solved!" He chuckled unsheathing his sward and started cutting down Templars. We stayed close protecting each other. "I- Anders what did you do?" Karl asked his voice finally his own "It's like you've brought a piece of The Fade to the world. I had already forgot what that feels like!" "I thought the Tranquil were cut off from the Fade forever." Hawk stated confused. "When you're Tranquil you never look back on your life before" Karl said "But it's like the Fade itself is inside Anders. Burning like the sun! Please kill me before I forget again! It's already fading!" "Karl no!" Anders replied. "My sister calls being tranquil a fate worse than death." Hawk stated sadly "Give him peace." "I got here too late." Anders said sounding as though he was about to cry "I'm sorry Karl. So sorry." "Now! It's fading!" Karl yelled his voice starting passionate but slowly got more and more monotonous "Why are you looking at me like that?" Anders walked forward, and I turned away, Fenris grabbing my hand this time. "Goodbye" I heard Anders say. I flinched as the awful sound of a blade meeting flesh, and Fenris pulled me into a stiff hug. "It's alright, Ember." Fenris whispered "You are going to be alright." "Thank you" I replied with a sniff, pulling away after a few seconds. "You are quite welcome" he said "Would you like to come over and play a game of Wicked Grace, and drink some wine?" "I'd love the game." I said smiling sadly "Though I'm not much of a drinker, but don't let me stop you!" "Of course" he replied as we walked to his mansion.
