Lunch at the SLS Hotel was kinda like a ritual every Wednesday for our family. My dad would book a table at the far end area in case the papparazzi was there and we inform the manager ahead so we can eat in peace.

"When's the big recital, Summer?", my dad asked me. "2 weeks," I answered. "Pantages Theatre." Dad smiled. "I can't wait," he said. I nodded then he shot me a funny look.

"Are you sure you don't want to take music for college?", he asked. "You're a really good musician and it's not too late to apply to Juil-" I shook my head.

"I wanna be a writer, dad," I said. "Playing musical instruments is great but, for me, writing is beyond amazing."

"Oh, Ted," mom looked at my dad. "Let Summer decide on what she want. She deserves to be happy. if she wants to write, then let her." Thanks, mom. Ha, ha.

"I'm not forcing Summer to take music," dad pointed out. "I'm just saying, I don't want her to stop playing or else her skills will deteriorate." I sighed.

"Dad," I said. "Even though I'm taking Writing Literature for college, that doesn't mean I'll stop playing. I'll still play when I can. Music is magic after all." Dad smiled.

"Alright, Summer," Dad said. "Whatever you say." I chuckled.

"Hey," Hallie butted in. "Since Summer can do what she wants, can I too?" Dad and mom gave her a raised eyebrow look.

"If Clayton's allowed to DJ while help run dad's company, If Jeff can act while modelling, If you're fine with Summer taking writing rather than music..." Hallie was prolonging what she was trying to say.

"Hallie," Clayton said. "Get to the point. I don't get why you have to mention me, Jeff, and Summer in whatever since you always get what you want. You're the brat of this family"

My sister took offense at what Clayton said. "Shut up, Mister-I'm-the-perfect-son!", she growled. "Both of you," mom said. "Stop it or I'll cut both of your credit cards!"

Clayton and Hallie shut up and glare at each other. I don't get why they always bicker. They're both legit famous, and things always go right for both of them.

But at the end of the day, blood is always thicker than water. They somehow make-up and stop hating each other.

"Alright," Dad started when the atmosphere stopped being intense. "What do you want, Hallie?" Hallie looked at Clayton, rolled her eyes then looked at my dad.

"I want a directing debut," she said. "I don't wanna be just another actress, I wanna be a director too. Movies, TV shows..." Dad looked shock.

This was unexpected. I never knew Hallie was the directing type. I mean yeah, she knows how a production works but I just thought she'd rather be the star than the one working behind the scenes.

"Movies? Shows?", Dad repeated. "Hallie Rosario Browning, are you out of your mind?" My older sister frowned. "You barely know how the system works," my dad reasoned. "and you wanna work on those huge projects right away?"

Hallie shook her head. "That's not what I meant when I said that, dad," Hallie sighed. "I mean, I wanna direct, not movies right away; that's crazy hard. Maybe music videos of one of your signed artists. Please?"
