Lilly walked towards the bookshop...  as if she was being tried...

Her feet stopped at the entrance...

Having met the old man her thoughts had changed...

Looking up at the  golden bell on the otherside of the glass, she clasped the door handle and opened the door slowly hearing the ringing of the small bell above her head.

Not really  realizing she had been holding her breath she took a step inside, her heart beating erratically as Gary appeared behind the counter he was bent over reading a book his hair falling gently into his face.

She stood momentarily before walking forward nerves shooting through her body, suddenly the picture of Gary broke as a girl ran from the shelves towards him. She  was a stunning beauty, long wavy blonde hair that seemed to glimmer in the light. She was tall  and dressed in a flowery blue dress with tall heels and a demin jacket.

"Gary how long until your shift ends?" she asked sweetly going up to the counter leaning upon it so there faces were inches apart.

Lilly stepped back but into something hard.

" Oh. I'm sorry" she mumbled as the man called Thomas smiled down at her.

"It's okay are you alright?"

She nodded. He looked from her face to the scene with Gary and the girl.

"Ah"

she felt her cheeks redden.

"Do you want to get a coffee somewhere?" he asked completely out of the blue startling her so she was speechless.
