Dream books shop

Lilly sat reading on the sofa immersed in a book. The noise of the bell tinkled in her brain vaguely making her aware that someone else had entered the shop.  She heard Gary's voice waft over from where he was putting  books on the shelf behind the counter.

"Ah. Thomas"  Gary said cheerily. Lilly hid her face behind the book, trying to ignore the fact someone had just come in. Her heart started to race and she felt beads of sweat on her neck. Why had Gary allowed another person to come  in after the shop was technically shut?

A part of her wanted to look  in curiosity but her nerves were getting the better of her. Her breathing was starting to quicken and her chest started to feel tight.Getting up she felt  light headed no longer could she handle being in a room with a stranger even if Gary was there.

Stumbling towards the counter where Gary was she passed him the book.

"Can I buy this book?"  she stammered.

"Yeah sure. Lilly your looking a little pale are you okay?"  Gary raised one eyebrow and a look of concern spread over his  face.

"I'm fine" she said quickly passing him the money, her hands shaking slightly.

"Well be careful going home"

"yeah" she mumbled into her scarf, snatching the book she walked head down towards the door. Suddenly she found herself falling towards the floor, her foot hurt like hell, she had tripped over her long scarf and fallen head first  over the  end of a small table, the books on the table teetered on the edge before collapsing in a shower, crashing straight towards her.

She heard Gary give a cry and in what seemed like slow motion she saw the wave of books coming ever closer before arms suddenly surrounded her, engulfing her, they protected her from the onslaught.

Looking up she saw a man. His eyes were the color of the sea, glistening in the glow of the small shop. He had tawny hair and black rimmed glasses. His cheek bones were high and his nose the perfect length for his face and the most flawless skin Lilly had ever seen. It put her to shame.

"Are you okay?" he said looking at her intently before slowly getting up. Holding out his hand he reached out so he could help her up.

Feeling herself go rigid she got up quickly swatting away his hand and staggered out of the shop, towards home, clutching her chest that felt like it was on fire.

.............................................................................................................................................................

Lilly sat staring at the computer screen. Wrapped in a scarf, hoodie and  jacket. The words flashing in front of her eyes, lifting like a black stream off the screen and catapulting  her into a world of imagination. Pirates, fairies and elves, princesses and villains all charmed and wooed her into reading more.

This really was a wonderful piece of writing making her feel all sorts of emotions, making her want to cheer on the hero and cry for the villains sob story.

She had been reading the manuscript non-stop since she got it at 10.00 clock in the evening. Her eyes hurt with reading but still she read on until sudden sounds interrupted her solitude.

doors were banging and clanging sounds reverberated....

Turning towards her door there was suddenly a loud rapping. Someone was outside....
