Rivers and Roads

Oh, heaven go easy on me

When these rivers turn to roads

When the stars kiss the tempest

And the moon hangs resolute, watching

Oh, hell don't make me pay

For I love thee as a dragon loves its gold

How the mountains shift, yet never fall

And how dew sticks prodigious to grass and sky and skin

If the stars desire, I will go softly

I will inundate the night

I will ink each leaf in turn

As vigil as swirling galaxies

For I am bright rivulets of sunlight

Oh, heaven go easy on me

For I have rivers to frost

And mountains to move

As each star is present to light the way
