• Chapter 8

Ive been gone for so long omg im cryingggg sorry

Ashleighs pov
We woke up from the long night together. Cameron was already awake.
"So what are we going to do?" I asked.
"Im not sure. I could ask someone to come pick us up" cameron said
"Maybe my dad?" I asked
"Yeah sure, ill text him right now" cameron said as he looked at his phone.
It was almost 30 seconds later when he got a text back asking if we were ok and where we were at. My dad said that he would get here in 20 minutes so we decided to go look around. He took my hand and we hopped off the truck. As we were walking, hand in hand, cameron whispered "omg Ashleigh look!" I looked over to where he was pointing, it was a small bunny. We started to walk over to it, assuming it would hop away soon, but it just sat there. We were unsure if we should go closer but we looked closer and half of the ear was missing and it was very injured. Cam let go of my hand and slowly walked over to the small bunny. He slid his hands under it to grab it. We walked back to the truck to see if he had anything he could clean it up with, but soon enough we saw the two headlights of my dads car. He got out and hugged me
"Glad to see you two are okay" he said with an assuring smile
Cam walked over to my dad showing him the injured bunny. It was balled up in the palm of cams hands.
"Can we keep it????" I said with my puppy dog eyes.
"Yeah, ok" but if it doesn't heal in less then two weeks we have to give it away, okay?"
"Okay thank you sooo much"
We all got into the car, cameron up front next to my dad, and me in the middle back.
"Thanks George" Cameron said with a small laugh.
"Yeah haha. Of course" my dad chuckled.
They started to talk about cars and other boyish things so i kind of tuned them out. The bunny was in my lap with the shirt that i wore yesterday wrapped around it.
*BOOM*
Everything went black. We woke up in a hospital bed. There was a bright light right my in my eyes.
"Where am i omg" i asked with confusion.
"Honey, everything with be alright" the nurse said as she put my shoulder back down to the slanting bed.
I ripped the nose tubes out and asked sternly "where is my dad and cameron?"
"They are a few rooms down, but please sit down. This is not funny!" the other nurse lowkey yelled.
Tears started running from my eyes. I limped over to my bed.
"But what actually happened?" I asked quietly.
"You guys got in a bad car crash. Your left ling was punctured by something from the other car"
"OMg is cameron ok? Please tell me!!" I yelled.
"Hes under surgery at the moment, and your dad only got a small concussion everything will be okay, Ashleigh"
I started balling as those works bled from her mouth. It was hard to breathe.
Moments later i saw a nurse cupping something in her hands. She walked over to me and said "i believe this is yours"
It was the bunny that me and cam found, but all bandaged up.
"Poor thing" the nurses said.
They put a small blanked over the rolling desk and let me put the bunny on it. I dozed off into a painful sleep.
