Angela Percy

"Thump, thump." I sat up straight, rubbing my eyes.

"Ugh, what time is it?" I stood up off the couch and noticed Charm was curled up in his bed, obviously not awakened by the knock at the door.

It was bright outside and I felt my eyes start to adjust to the light flooding the window.

After seeing that wolf on Monday, it had been hard for me to sleep.

I was a complete mix of emotions. I was deathly afraid of the beast but at the same time I longed to see it again.

For four days all I've done is go to work, come home, and sit on the couch, watching my front lawn.

But it was like I couldn't do anything else. I couldn't explain what was happening to me.

I walked over to the front door and opened it without checking to see who it was, I hadn't had enough sleep to think clearly.

"Angela." My name rolled off his tongue so smoothly it made my heart race.

"H-hi L-Lane." I stumbled over my words as his deep golden eyes stared into mine.

We stood there for a moment and then I realized I hadn't invited him in, it was snowing heavily outside and the light that had been peaking through the clouds was slowly disappearing into a white fog.

"Come in," I opened the door wider and he stepped inside. "Thank you." He replied.

"Let me get your coat." He had begun shrugging it off, snow was falling off it and onto to the welcome rug and I grabbed it.

"So..." I mumbled once I'd placed his coat in the closet and I was standing in front of him again.

He cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair. He was wearing a dark grey sweater and black jeans.

"I um..." He rubbed his stubbly chin. "I just wanted to come by..." He trailed off and stood there awkwardly.

"I..." He trailed off again. I had to hold back my smile. He was adorable, like a big lost puppy. "You're garage door was open..."

"Oh!" I grabbed my parka and shrugged it on.

He smiled. "Don't worry. I closed it." I felt my cheeks begin to burn.

"Oh." I shrugged off my coat and put it back in the closet.

"Um..." I rubbed my hands together. "Would like to stay a little bit? I was just going to make some coffee." I offered.

He smiled. "Sure." I nodded, trying not to embarrass myself again.

-

"Here." I handed him the mug of black coffee. He smiled. Smiling suited him.

"Thanks." He took a sip of the scalding liquid.

I sat down in the arm chair and curled up, cupping my mug in my hands.

"Thanks for shutting my garage." I sipped my cream and sugared coffee.

He shook his head. "No problem."

We sat there for a while, silently. It was comfortable, I was content with his presence.

"Do you ever see wolves?" I blurted out without thinking.
